Shopping UGH

Post by Greenskeeper »

I HATE to shop on vacation. Please help me expedite the experience.

Can anyone suggest a good shop(s) on island where we can get:

1. Christmas ornament to commemorate our trip

2. fun Caribbean room decor (promised teen sons if they rolled loose coins that we would get some *stuff* for their new bedrooms- DIDN'T REALIZE WE HAD $500)

3. Cool t-shirts - what restaurants etc have the best t-shirts that are school appropriate for teen boys.

St John Spice... St John Spice.... St. John Spice :-)
Other Choices. There is a shop near Lime Inn, starts with a "P"... sorry its early and I haven't my cofffe yet. I think they have room decor as well. Sloop Jones' T's Tie dyed are cool,

I'm with ya man shopping on vacation is a drag. We like the Jolly Dog for cool T shirts. There is one at Skinny Legs and Shipwreck Landing. Skinnys and Woodys have cool Bar Tees that most would be appropriate. There is also a place at Mongoose Junction that has a huge selection of cool T shirts.

I know Diane Artwear does some nice ones(Xmas ornaments). Her stuff can be found here in St John http://islandfancy.shoppingstjohn.com/
Can't recall which store in St Thomas.

Shopping? Bring me along as your personal shopper - problem solved!

You can find everything at St. John Spice; and maybe pick up some Cruz Bay Grill Rub and Kiss of the Jumbie coffee while you're there. There were also some cool hoodies when I was there in November.

Other options:

Nice ornaments at the Pink Papaya (near Lime Inn), Jolly Dog, and Island Fancy in Mongoose. There is another "free standing" store whose name escapes me, Corner something maybe.

Teen appropriate t-shirts also at Jolly Dog, BigFish Little Fish and Big Planet(huge selection) in Mongoose.

I think all of the above would also have something appropriate for room decor.

Have a great trip,

We really like Big Planet in Mongoose Junction for t-shirts, beachwear, shoes, etc. Nice selection and good quality items.

As stated before, you could probably find everything you need at St. John Spice. Other than my favorite sweatshirt from there, my favorite t-shirt is from Morgan's Mango. It has a really cool iguana on the back. In fact I'm going to get another one on the next trip for when this one wears out! :D Jolly Dog in Coral Bay has some really cool t-shirts too.

Thanks everyone!

If I'm not mistaken, doesn't Mongoose Junction also have at least one spot for a cold libation? For some reason, knowing there a cocktail at the end/beginning/middle  of the chore makes it easier.

The Tap Room is in Mongoose Junction. Stop in and try some of their Summer Ale! I'm not much of a beer drinker, but I love that beer! (Oh yeah, and they have cool t-shirts, too!)

There is also Gecko Gazebo in Mongoose for a drink. You could have lunch at Sun Dog Cafe right there too.
Going "home" again October 26th!

We found some nice tropical pictures and some gifts in a frame/picture shop in Cruz Bay. Bought a really cool print that is a map of Caribbean and had it framed when we got home. Maybe your boys would find a poster they would like. It was in the building across the parking lot from St John Ice.

I'm gonna' second Brenda on this one, because I love the Gecko Gazebo...
St. John Spice also rules, as does all of the shops by Skinny's. The Coral Bay side of the island has plenty of hidden shopping treasures, especially cute & cool Xmas ornaments!
Have fun!
