Your Best Day Sail
We will be on island in May with three newbies. They want to go out sailing one day. We went with White Wing (Captain Clark) two years ago and he was great. He wasn't sailing last year (busy building a house in Coral Bay - lucky guy!). I haven't called him yet to see if he is available in May but, if he isn't do you have any suggestions for another boat?
Thanks for your help!

We sailed on Breath with Jared. We didn't do a day sail, just a sunset sail, because I am not really for more than a couple of hours on a boat. However, Jared and Drew are a great team, and the boat is beautiful. Very reasonably priced as well.
I recommend reading the book about the boat. I can't think of what the name is, but it was written by Peter Muillenberg, who built Breath with his own hands and was still piloting the boat until he got sick a few years ago.

We sailed with Rick and Robin Gallup on Long Distance this past week and would recommend them. Their website is http://www.sailcoralbaystjohn.com/
Thanks. Why can I not ever remember the name of that book?designbyroe wrote:Peter Muilenburg's book is 'Adrift on a sea of blue light'........excellent

Loria, did you do the sail on this trip with Rick Gallop? I was leaning strongly toward doing it since it was on the Coral side (where we were staying) but we liked Lion in Da Sun so much last year that we decided to rebook with them.

My trip review for day 2 should be coming soon--my pictures are loading now. Slowly though.

Breath sails out of Coral Bay as well and has a website www.sailbreath.com. The boat is truly unique. The biggest boat built in St John. It is a classic with loads of character and stories. The boat has sailed across the atlantic 4 times as far as Turkey, 250 miles up the Gambia river in West Africa...

I would call Clark first. I loved our day with him. Really in the top 10 days of my life, it was that much fun. Perhaps it was the company and the perfect weather but his turkey sandwich was the best sandwich I have ever had.
For a powerboat trip, you can not beat Capt John. Our day with him was perfect and I would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone.

We love Captain Phil Chalker and Tarn on the Wayward Sailor. Really great with snorkeling newbies, but always fascinating to chat with them.
