Casa Contant
Casa Contant
Does anyone have any info to share on this little Villa?
Ksea - I was interested in this villa a couple of years ago. I can't remember a lot of what I found out about it, but I know the owners live upstairs. Even so, it's supposed to be very private and they don't bug you. I believe the villa's been refurbished in the past couple of years, too. I love the location and all those windows. I may still rent it someday. Wish I could offer you more info, but I know others will probably chime-in on this one.
Casa Contant
Rich and I were looking at this villa for a 3 day stay last November. We did share e-mails with the owner, who did not mention that they lived upstairs.
It is located in a great spot, very near Argonauta. The pool is a dipping pool, 4 ft deep but very small, and it has no hanrail to get into.
That was the deal-breaker for me, with my bad leg. Other than that we were more than happy with the location, deck space and amenities and would have rented this little gem.
We ended up staying at Lindholm for the 3 days instead.

Ksea-
I stayed at this villa about 10 years ago and loved it.
1.Pros- loved the view and it had a Great sunset
2.Nice little deck and small dip pool
3.The bedrooms are on opposite sides of the great room for privacy
4.had a inside garden-type shower which was great.
5. very close to town/ you make a right at the basketball court prior to Jacob's ladder and it is near the top of the hill at the turn.
Which leads me to the only Con- the driveway is on the curve and is downhill which can be tricky especially when wet.
I wouldn't hesitate to stay at this villa again but I am a very low maintenance/ bargin traveler
If you have anymore questions I would be happy to answer if I can remember.

Thanks Knolmom and Traveler22. I don't think we mind the owners living upstairs. I figure at that price we are lucky to get a private pool at all, so a small one is OK. We are fairly low maintenance and budget travelers as well. One day we plan to have a little party for about 12. Think that is doable?
Ksea,
We are renting Casa Contant for a week in June. The
owners live downstairs and have another entrance they use. We have been dealing with the owners daughter who lives there and works at La Tapa. They have been pleasant to work with. I'm sure its not perfect, but for the price and convienience to Cruz Bay it works for us. Look at Spendore and Argonuata on Vacationvistas website, these are the neighboring units (one above and one to the south) and you can get an idea of the views and neighborhood. Casa Contant won't be anything like them, but costs less than half.

Did some checking & have questions.
Is it airconditioned in at least the bedrooms? Thinking of summer.
I saw I article on USVI & the person stayed there in 2004. They commented that it was "worn" Do you know if it has been updated since 2004?
Is it really just a ten minute walk to town?
Don't know if you know these answers yet.
Thanks

Just one of the bedrooms has a/c (the master). I'm not planning on walking to town, it would be very hilly. I think the decor is probably older and needs updating more than being a case of worn.
The best info I found was a post from middlesc which was posted on Nov 1, 2008 and sounded like a fairly recent stay. Let me know if you can't find it.

Ksea - I don't know about that villa but can tell you that we stayed on Contant Point at Argonauta last summer, and it was by far our favorite location as it's so close to town yet you don't feel close to town.
The views from Argonauta are spectacular and the views from Casa Contant appear to be the same.
I think you will like the location. Also, Argo has a small pool, and it was just fine for our needs. Argo also had a very difficult driveway too...must be something about villas on Contant Point.
