Has anyone been to Bomba's Surfside Shack, Tortola?

Post by kellyanna »

Has anyone been to Bomba's Surfside Shack on Tortola? I've heard they have a special drink. Is this a must see and experience? There's a website and it seems they appreciate undergarment donations. http://www.bombasurfsideshack.com/default.asp

Well, my opinion is that if you are under 25 and on the wild side you will enjoy a full moon party at the Bomba Shack.
It is crowded mayhem and reminded me of spring break in Daytona.
(I was 28 when I went and it did nothing for me and I have always been on the wild side, too many people that don't handle their booze(or other "drinks") taking their clothes off)

Xislandgirl, thank you! I am over 25 (by 13 years almost!) I'll be fine without visiting Bomba's. I am way more of an advanced drinker than that crowd. Wontongirl, wouldn't you agree? Jorge, being with the DBFT will suffice. (We don't have to bring under garments to donated do we?)

WOW, I guess I sound like a prude.
I appreciate Nekkidness as much as the next person and skinny dipping in my villa pool with my friends while drinking way too much is my idea of a good time.
I think that Bomba's is just a little too much for me. I am sure that there are a ton of people that love it.

Xislandgirl, no, I'm sorry if that sounded cocky. I truly appreciate your reply. Your reply was all I needed to decide I didn't want to go there! If I'm going to drink too much, I'd rather be with a smaller group of friends. Again, thank you so much for your comment. Please accept my apology! Kellee

No apology needed. I re-read my post and I thought it.
If you are looking for a slightly wild time, hop on a charter boat and head to the Willy T. I hear that you can't jump off the top of boat any more, but I have found memories of body shots with the bartender.

Thank you for the recommendation! I'll be with wontongirl in St. John May 5-12. She has us scheduled for a bvi tour May 8 with the DBFT. I think Willy T is on the list. Foxy's, Soggy Dollar. I don't remember what else but I know it is sure to be fun.

Anyways, Bomba Shack doesn't fit with a water-based daytrip. You would have to moor at
Cane Garden Bay and take a taxi over to Bomba's. That area is the main surfing beach on Tortola.

Though I do think Bomba's is worth hitting. Full moon's pretty wild, but Wednesday night Bombecue is fun. All the food you can fit on plate at one price. Pretty good ribs, chicken, corn, etc.

Here's a shot of the main road past Bomba's on full moon October 2005. We stayed at Sebastian's and had fun. It was interesting to see the magic mushroom vendors lined up down the road.

But, Tortola is not St. John. Anegada is pretty sweet, though.

Cheers, Rick

Bomba's

Post by SuefromMA »

Hi!

We will be able to give you a "review" of Bomba's Full Moon Party in early March.

We will be on Tortola during the full moon (& lunar eclipse) on Saturday, March 3rd.

We are not of the 20 year old crowd. But, do think that if you happen to be on Tortola during a full moon - you would be remiss not to check out this "legendary event" at Bomba's.

There is actually a "more tame" and "less X-rated" full moon party on Tortola that takes place at Trellis Bay. There is usually entertainment, Mock Jumbies & Steel or Metal Huge Balls that have gorgeous artistic designs on them - that they fill with wood & light them on the beach (they call them Fireballs). It looks really neat. That is where we will be spending the "bulk" of the evening. But, will swing by Bomba's on our way back to the hotel.

Again, kind of just for the curiosity factor!

What interesting signs, promoguy. It made me blush. We won't be there during a full moon so I guess it is off the list for sure.

RickG, thank you for the info. Like your pictures!

SuefromMA, I'm still curious what you will experience---full moon party and all.
