Last minute cheap condo...Help Please!!

Post by cypressgirl »

My 19 year old daugher has decided she would love to take mom and a friend to STJ for a few days over spring break. I have found a great airfare from Houston to STT for 389. (Mon thur Fri. only, but better than nothing). We really need to do this on the cheap, so can anyone recommend a decent little condo in Cruz Bay? One bedroom and a sofa is all we need. Any and all opinions are welcome.

Cruz Views are great little Condos within walking distance of Cruz Bay. Check out www.caribbeanvilla.com for availability (which will be extremely limited this time of year).

I think you may have a problem finding anything cheap this time of year and there may be a minimum stay. Do you have dates?

last min condo

I know you said you wanted a cheap last min condo on st john but i'm not sure that exists. If you wand cheap I would look into going to sapphire on the hill a woman Rita owns a couple of condos and she is really very nice. Her email is rstaheli@earthlink.net.l she has studios and 1 bedrooms for rent. I rented from her in Oct (studio) and it was nice and CLEAN. I would rent from her again. The ferry is only 1 mile from there. Just a thought. 1 of 4

Also look into:

Coconut Coast http://www.coconutcoast.com
Lavender Hill: http://www.lavenderhill.net
The Inn at Tamarind Court (I don't know their web address, but if you google you'll find reviews)
Estate Lindholm: http://www.estatelindholm.com
Donald Schnell's Bougainavailia: http://www.donaldschnell.com

I hope you find something that works! :D
It's like looking in your soup and finding a whole different alphabet.

I found an effiency appartment in a building next to the lumberyard. It is a vrbo listing from a lady named Arlene. She says there are 6 condos in the unit and her's is on the bottom floor. She wants 200. a night which is about my limit. Does anyone know anything about this property? Cruz View has one unit that has the dates available we need. It is a little more expensive, but I'm sure nicer. I'm concerned about the walk to cruz views.

It looks like Cruz View has a few nights available in March that would fit our schedule. Do you have to be a marathon runner to get back up that hill after dinner and a few drinks. It looks like a nice place.
What do you guys think.

Well, the walk DOWN to town is easy and takes about 10 minutes. Now, the walk back UP is a whole different story. Lets put it this way - We have stayed at Cruz Views prob like 7 times in the past 4 years and go into town almost every night. We have only walked back once, and that was on the first visit. It is brutal. However, a cab ride is like $3 from anywhere in Cruz Bay. Totally worth it.

thanks for all your great advice. So far I have two condos on hold.....Cruz views and Star villa (frangipani). Does anyone have an opinion as to what would be the better choice. I was warned of the construction noise at Cruz Views, but it does have a pool and Frangipani does not.

Personally, I wouldn't let construction noise be a factor. How much time during construction hours will you actually spend wherever you stay? Hit the beach and forget about it. No worries!
