Liamsaunt... We have one of those sound machines. We have had it for years and can't sleep without it! I discovered years ago that I can't fall asleep in complete silence, so I started to use this. We fall asleep to ocean waves -- it's wonderful!

I sleep with a white noise machine too, AND a fan. I need lots of noise to sleep! The version I got has seagulls cawing over the ocean waves. Does yours have the bird sounds also? I think just waves would be relaxing, it's the birds that are kind of weird.
It's like looking in your soup and finding a whole different alphabet.

Pete, the reading glasses make you look very distinguished. I think I picked out a nice pair!

Most unusual gift I received was the "AS SEEN ON TV" lap table (official name: Porta-Book) from Walgreens. I tried it the other day to write my thank you notes while curled up on the couch and started to get carpel tunnel syndrome. The kids said I had it upside down. Whatever.

I guess I am officially old.

Before you start feeling badly for me...don't...I also got socks.
LOL, well join the "40"-something club Pete! I've
been a member for about 3 years now. At least
there are some stylish selections

Problem is though now that I've started wearing
'em my eyesight is even worse...or my arms are
getting shorter

[quote="SJfromNJ"]I got a Barry White CD as a gag from my brother.

Don't knock Barry White. Put that music on and most panties will melt. Did I just say that?

That's definitely mood music. RickG can you comment?

If anyone would like a pair of Hershey Kiss socks, I'll send them to ya!! :D They are a lovely shade of chocolate brown.

In my 50 something years on this planet, that is the strangest "thing" I've ever received. It's right up there with the sudoku rubiks cube, with no instructions and was played with by the person who gave it to me. She messed it up and couldn't get it back to it's original configuration (same person who gave me the socks).

Me too - lots of noise! Mine doesn't have bird sounds, it's got rain, ocean waves, crickets (those are annoying), just plain white noise and a couple more I can't remember.

My husband gave me a heated mattress pad. We stayed in several B&Bs this fall in the Virginia countryside and some of them had the heated pads. I tend to be cold a lot, so getting into a toasty bed was nice, especially since the B&Bs were chilly at night. Its unusual, but appreciated.
In the past, he has given me electic gloves and socks in the quest to keep me warm when we are camping or doing outdoor activities when its cold.

Ron, How do you know the person giving you these gifts?

We were invited to a "dirty santa" party and it was made very clear to me that we had to bring gifts in the $50 range (so 2 $50 gifts-1 from me & 1 from Brad). The person explained how everyone would get something nice. I took what I would want...a framed $50 bill (in a frame I had) and two $25 casino chips from the Mississippi casino 2 miles from us. I opened a box containing a free gift Estee Lauder perfume set & an eyeglass repair kit. Someone actually took it away from me. I ended up with a 45 minute tennis lesson from our local tennis pro. He charges $20 for a 45 min. lesson! Brad got this HUGE bottle of Crown Royal.
