Our Christmas adventure
Our Christmas adventure
This year Charlie and I aren't exchanging too many gifts, instead we are trying to do some 'things' during our time off. We started yesterday doing something I have wanted to do for years. We went to the train show at the New York Botanical Gardens. It was wonderful. The trains run through settings of famous NY landmarks which have all been constructed from natural items (roofing material is made of dried leaves, etc). It was really fun. If you are in the NY area it is worth checking out.
From there we had cocktails at Chart House overlooking NYC and then to a favorite Italian restaurant. It was a good present to ourselves.
I am putting some photos here but will also include the link to my album because there are a LOT of them!

That is so cool. And nice pix. Are you a train enthusiast? We used to own some land that we sold to a group of live steam engine hobbyists---I found this youtube video of their trains/tracks. I rode them once. Fun.

I'm really not but I loved the whole idea of this show since it is mixed with all the NY scenes. It is always featured on the local news every year and every year I saw I am going to get there. Well, finally!
We picked a good day too... no crowds at all which I'm sure won't be the case in the next few days.

What a great idea! We've been trying to have more experiential gifts, and less "stuff". Last year my husbands family (parents, 3 sibs, their spouses and 4 kids) went to see A Chrismas Carol at Trinity Rep. This year we're going to 12th Night.
My big gift is a 12 night trip to St John in March. (I planned it - is that peeking?) The boys (husband and son) will get an intro to scuba class with Chris Sawyer. It's better than a crockpot
