Miss Lucy's and other info
Hello everyone! We are headed to St. John for the first time and are staying in Coral Bay. I have heard good and bad reviews about Miss Lucy's Sunday brunch and would love to get your thoughts. Any other suggestions on the "must" list? We are there from 12/26 - 1/5 and are 6 adults and 2 infants. We all can't wait!!!! Thank you!!!
Hi and welcome to the forum! I haven't heard any bad reviews about Miss Lucy's Sunday brunch. We had brunch there and just loved it! Excellent food, wonderful view, and nice people! Just get there early or you may have to scrounge for a table outside. Brunch starts at 10:00 and by 11:00 it's kind of crowded, even though there are still tables available inside. Here are a couple of pictures to entice you!
MMMMMM... BANANA PANCAKES & A LIME N' COCONUT FOR BREAKFAST!
EGGS NEPTUNE
I've had banana pancakes before, but none compare to Miss Lucy's!

Don't know if you will be travelling to Cruz Bay in the evenings but I remember Morgan's Mango being particularly accomodating to our infant.
Rhumblines comfortable due to the layout of the restaurant, there was lots of room to spread out around the table.
Lime Inn was also good with the baby but I think we got lucky with table location. It is usually packed with little wiggle room and that might be hard if you have two in highchairs.
The Shipwreck is one of our favorites, love the location and depending on where you sit, the babies might be able to rest on the benches.
We had a good lunch at Island Blues outside under the awning. New owners since. Maybe someone will chime in on their experience.

More Miss Lucy's temptation....the view!

My personal "must" list is La Tapa, Sweet Plantains, and Miss Lucy's (though I like to go for lunch, not brunch).

It's like looking in your soup and finding a whole different alphabet.
I can't image anyone disappointed with Miss Lucy's unless they were expecting a large buffet spread for brunch. It's a brunch menu that is offered rather than a buffet so know that. We never brunch at Miss Lucy's and look forward to it every trip.
Other favorites are Cafe Roma, Morgan's Mango, Uncle Joe's Bar-B-Q, Skinny's and Island Blues.

Miss Lucy's is a MUST!!! It is becoming one of my favorite places on the whole island. We were there twice last week for Sunday Brunch and the Full Moon party on Dec 12. SOOOOO relaxing and the food is superb!!! Sunday Jazz by the sea can't be beat! Enjoy! If you go please tell AJ Hi from OHIO (her Island Blues Ohio friends)!!
We were there for the Full Moon Pig Roast and had EXCELLENT food!!! While none of the six of us had the pig, we did have the beef brisket, Wahoo and the crab cakes. NO complaints from anyone. Each meal was served with pigeon peas and rice, fried plantains, grilled zucchini, okra fungi and sweet potato stuffing.
I had never had Wahoo before and wow I was very pleased!! And the best part - all this for $18 !!! With a incredible view to boot!!!!!!!

We've never been to Miss Lucy's for brunch, but have been for lunch several times after snorkeling at Salt Pond or Lameshur. Its a favorite for just hanging out in the shade under the big sea grape tree and having a leisurely lunch with a view of that gorgeous water.
We also love Shipwreck on that end of the island. Totally casual ambiance and good food. Especially love their homemade Key Lime Pie.
To the forumites who posted pictures - Thanks for posting those beautiful pictures! Such a nice little mental break from the cold gray day in Virginia.
