Booked... AGAIN! 185 and counting

Post by Gromit »

Well, it's official. Official Official.

Don't know about you all but even if I book a villa I still don't feel like the trip is real until I buy the airline tix cause you know, then it's like permanent cause you have to sell a kidney to change your flight these days.

FF and I are trying something a bit different this time and are flying thru JFK to STT. I just couldn't resist $150 EACH WAY for pricing. INCREDIBLE!!

RT Tickets from DCA-JFK-STT, then STT-MIA-DCA were $363 per person.

After I heard that OPEC will be cutting oil production I said to myself:

"Self, now is the time to buy those tickets!"

I also got my Aunt Bea (yes I have an Aunt Bea) and my cousin booked from Birmingham, AL to STT (from Atlanta) on US AIR for the same price!!!

BHam was $400 more per ticket to go from there. But ATL is just a couple hours away so they were keen on saving $800 and just driving to ATL.

Hell for that kind of savings they can do Park and Fly at and airport hotel on both ends and still come out ahead.

Anyway, it's ALL HAPPENING!!

185 days soon come!!!

FF and I will be terrorizing the island again in true pirate girl fashion soon enough!!
*Another fine scatterbrained production

$149 out of Cincinnati is a great deal. I've never seen it less than $600 out of CVG.

If I had any vacation time, I'd go look and see what I could find...

American Airlines. We watched the rates through Expedia. Our flight leaves BOS @ 6am in the 21st, goes thru JFK, then onto STT by 12pm. We booked directly thru AA, and they had the same prices as Expedia. Being flexible with travel dates are key to getting the best rates. 1 day can mean a big difference in price.

Loria- go to aa.com and type in your dates. Then click the button for "search price & schedule"

That brings up a grid with the prices right there so you can see what the cost of each leg is.

These are Q class tix so I'm not holding my breath on upgrades

US Air also has a similar tool on their site.

Orbitz and the consolidators were not showing these low rates.

Also, for those folks who paid too much... find out what the price is now on that same flight. Then figure out what the charge to exchange the ticket and subtract. If you still come out ahead contact the airline and they will usually issue you a credit or refund for the difference.

If you booked thru Orbitz they will automatically send you a refund of the difference if someone else books the same itinerary and pays less. Check their site for details.

For our flights out of CVG, we fly out and return on a Monday (although I think Tues, Wed, and Th were the same price), and I booked directly from the USAir website which was about $14 cheaper (lower fees) than Orbitz. I noticed on Yapta though that the price jumped the next day and didn't come back down for 3 days.
