In our four years at our "second home" the only thing that I found depressing was the surroundings at Love City Market. The overflowing dumpsters and the trash everywhere, the make-shift chairs and campground across from the market. If you didn't know it was all good, it would definitely be a place you would avoid at home. Just seems like a good project for clean-up, especially so close to the amazing Moravian Church. :(

Christmas baking as I post...ginger snaps, oat crisps, fruitcake cookies...it's a good thing I have a little Cruzan to bake with..... :)

The thought that some of the crimes committed in the recent past have moved beyond petty theft... That being said, it still won't change my decision to vacation there

Well we might toss a shout out to the worthless law enforcement while we are at it :-)

The goats because of how they strip the hillsides of the vegetation needed to control erosion. I suppose donkeys should also be included in this category.

The abandoned junk also bothers me but if there is no zoning/ordinances to prevent it, people do have a right to do what they want on their own property regardless of how unsightly I think it may be.

My friend would say the chickens because of her "issues" with free roaming birds.

Owing to the number of beer bottles strewn around, I nick named that spot "The Beer Garden".

Here in NY, smoking is banned in just about all public places and we don't even think about it anymore :D , so I would say the most frustrating thing on St. John is trying to avoid second hand smoke, especially in bars :(

I agree with Bob & Anita. I honestly can't think of one thing I really don't like about STJ enough to even post it.

I can tell you that I HATE having to wear "real" shoes when I come back home. My feet feel trapped when I go from flip flops or Tevas the entire trip.

The no-seeums and 'squitos. The squitos don't me much, hubby gets the brunt of that. But the no-seeums suck ass. You don't even know you were bit until the next morning.

I was really turned off by the dumpsters the first time on-island but a better understanding of why they are there makes me not even notice them anymore.

I don't like to increasing crime. Especially since most of the places I can afford (small cottages) don't have locks on the doors.
