AA airfare drop

Looks like American has dropped their fare on JFK - STT non stop. I had booked about 5 months ago for 436.00 R/T incl all fees/taxes for early March 09. For the last couple of days the fare has been at 369.00 with all incl.

Continental was $306 including taxes ERW-STT

if the fare drop corresponds to when you are travelling you may be able to recoup the difference--someone --i forget who--posted about this a while back.

Re booking fee for AA is I believe $100.00, I was glad to get the price I did back in June, who knew what was going on with fuel, although most airlines hedge fuel costs and it takes quite a while for dropping fuel costs to be reflected in ticket prices if at all, usually are some fare fluctuations to fill seats, just wasnt sure if this was going to be the case as it had been in years past.

It may have been me who posted about taking advantage of a fare drop. For our Dec. 07 trip to STJ, I booked our JFK-STT tix in Sept. 07 at $650+/pp. By November AA was offering the exact same flights for about half of what we had paid. I called AA immediately! Even with the $100/pp "change fee," we received vouchers totaling nearly $500, which we used to book our Jan. 09 flights. Sweet!!

So keep an eye out for dropping fares, you may be able to save some money by rebooking.
