christmas gift ideas

Post by nancyg »

Hello,

My husband and I will be in st john in april for our 20yr anniversary. So christmas gifts this year are going to be things we need for our trip. I already got him the feet, fins and 4wheel drive book and a otter box. We just got new snorkel equipment before our last vacation so we don't need that. Anything else you can think of would be a great help.

Thanks
nancy

a polar bear cooler or a back pack cooler--and beach chairs --we have some that fit in the overhead and are back packable that we got from beachchairs .com that we really like (though your place may have beach chairs!)
maybe a forum t shirt? or beer coolie? new bathing suit?
< leaving on the 22nd of march...but too lame to figure out the ticker thing again!>

does he have an ipod? maybe a gift card for itunes or gift him some songs you pick out.

gift cert. to some place on island? maybe dinner or STJ Spice? Or book a sunset sail for while you are there?

second the polar bear cooler, beach chairs--kelsyus chairs can be folded and packed so easily, and then slung right over your back.

neat sheet-we don't even bring towels to the beach anymore.

rash guard shirt. Great ones for men are at Coolibar.com. They are not cut snug like many of the surf brands, they are cut like a tshirt. Look really good and go well from beach to Beach Bar.

techni ice to go in polar bear cooler. comes in sheets.

I second the Coolibar rash guard. I got a couple for me and they are very comfortable - maybe you can hint to him for yourself.

How about an underwater camera?

Everyone needs a St John calendar.

They make great Christmas gifts.

A can of bug spray, and Band aid brand anti-itch gel, I was lunch this year for little bugs. Also, a rash guard shirt, I used one for the first time this trip for snorkeling. I will always bring some on everytrip from now on.

thanks for the great ideas everyone.

I think the cooler maybe my next purchase. I'll have to look at underwater cameras too.

- Binoculars for primo viewing from the villa deck
- Luggage handle covers
- Custom mugs to keep beverages frosty, maybe with a saying printed on them like "STJ 2009 - 20 years together" or something.
- Gorilla pod camera tripod
- Turbo charger.. Charges cell phones, ipods, portable video games systems, etc. anywhere in the world.

I love the cooler and the rash guard ideas also.

For Christmas gifts (for ourselves and our friends travelling with us), I got Neat Sheets and Bag 2 Gos (thanks to tips from this forum when they were on sale!). I also treated myself to an inexpensive digital underwater camera.

Also, about 3 months ago I made a "Countdown" calendar for each of us.... Used a Word calendar template, and added the Countdown days from October 1. Kind of fun having my own virtual ticker on the wall! (I added some fun clipart and pictures).

Another thought would be a good gear bag/ beach bag. I got a mesh one that holds the whole family's snorkel gear (including fins), towels, sunscreen, etc. and has shoulder straps so it can be carried like a backpack.. but still folds up pretty small to fit in the suitcase.

Have fun shopping!
