Christmas decorations and Christmas trees - want pics
Last year there were some topics with pics of Christmas trees and Christmas decorations. I showed some of my decorations too and found it so interesting to see, how other people decorate for Christmas.
So I hope you will share some pics this year also.
I haven't done so much yet, but I always start the first of December having a few decorations in our house.
We always have a tree in a pot. I switch on the lights every morning.

We also always have an Advent decoration with 4 lights, one for each Sunday before Christmas, This year I have made it with moss.

For some years ago we bought a pixy from an old woman, who has knitted it herself- now it's tradition that we say good morning to the pixy every day in December

And these 2 angels I couldn't resist to buy some days ago.

Looking forward to see your pics, PA Girl, Liamsaunt and Nic.
Yes, PA Girl fresh cut trees are common in DK (actually we sell a lot of them to other countries too). It’s not common here to have an artificial tree, but some have of course. Until 5 years ago we always have had a real Christmas tree at home, but after we have got grandchildren our son and daughter in law prefer to celebrate Christmas in their house together with her parents and us.
So now we only have the live tree in the pot.

I took some pics for you, Linne. These are the house decorations. I wait until just before Christmas to do the tree. We live in an old house, and it always scares me to have such a fire hazard in the house (when I was little, my brother put a match to a dead Christmas tree, and it instantly burst into flame and burned down our playhouse. Scary.)
This is the sideboard in the dining room.

Chandelier decorated with stars I just bought last week (from Franky, Ruth!).

Fresh greens picked from the yard.

The fireplace mantel, which contains all kinds of things we found in the walls when we first bought this house, including that old letter, which was written by a heartsick man to a woman who once lived here. We found it torn into pieces.)

The downstairs bath:

The "window" above my kitchen sink....

We put on an addition and there was no way to keep the original window above the sink. I couldn't look at a wall so came up with this. My favorite little things are on this sill, including the creche scene that fits inside a walnut.

I love Maryanne's house! Thanks for sharing everyone so far.
I have decided to put my tree-trimming party together at the last minute, so I will take pictures this weekend of the finished project. I am going at lunch time to get some holiday decorations. I want to put greenery and lights on the fireplace since this is the first year I've had one and something for outside.
My one neighbor did her decorations last night, and now I'm feeling the urge to compete!

As you perhaps can see of my pictures our house is characterized of our Scandinavian taste.
But that doesn’t mean that I don’t appreciate how other people live, and I think that you have a very cosy house, Maryanne! With all your decorations I’m sure people in the house will be in Christmas mood. I also like that you use fresh greens and things, which mean something for you.
Looking forward to see more pics, Linne

The only thing we have up so far is our advent calendar. It's not something I'd like to take a picture of though because you kind of have to know the history of it to appreciate its wonder.
My mom made it about 40 years ago, when I was just a little girl and it's been in use ever since. It has been passed from family to family (my three siblings) for years. My children are almost too old to do advent calendars but they do, because of this one, when it's our year to have it.
It's made of felt and burlap. There are 25 pockets which each contain a wrapped ornament to hang on the felt tree. The ornaments are replicas of various ornaments from my family's collection 40 years ago. I have great fun every forth year wrapping them and slipping them into the pockets on November 30. Now you see these types of advent calendars all over the place but 40 years ago, it was pretty innovative.
As the years have passed, some of the miniature ornaments have gotten too tattered or broken so we siblings have replaced them with something that represents our own family. You never know what new item might be there and it's always a joy to see the old favorites.
It's definitely the most sentimental piece I have for the Holidays, but it's also probably the cheesiest looking thing I put up.
