St. John Postage Stamp

Post by nothintolose »

A friend just emailed me (knowing I am a STJ addict) asking me if I was aware of this ST. John postage stamp. I wasn't, and thought I'd share it with you guys too...

I actually received a mailing at work last week and it had the STJ postage stamp on it. I didn't know about the stamp prior so I was really excited when I noticed it.

It'd be neat to frame a page or a plate block of those!

Margo - you are so darned artistic! I would have never thought of something like that, but it's a good idea.

Just ordered the pane of 20 stamps and the USPS web site does not list a size. I want to do CAG's idea of mounting in a picture frame for a X-Mas gift for my wife, but what size frame do I buy? Does anybody have any dimensions?

Thanks,
Mike

I was a picture framer for 20 yrs. and I'll be happy to help you with this project. Get the stamps first and we'll figure out what size frame you need from there.

I'm off to Cabo San Lucas in the morning & will be back on Saturday. Maybe you'll have your stamps by then and I can give you some advice! :D

size of pane of stamps

It's about 7 3/8" wide by 5 7/8" high, and there's about a half-inch of white border on all sides. I don't know if they've still got the first day cover available, but it's 6.5" wide by 3/75" high. I ordered both, but haven't gotten around to framing them yet.

Thanks Bill W! Sound like an 8" X 10" with a matting frame will work well.

Have a great X-Mas everyone!
