day trip to St. Criox

Post by mow my lawn »

We will be in St. John next week and will need to take a day trip to St. Criox. What is a good plan of travel from St. John to St. Croix for a short one day stay?

I think for a short day, the only plan is to go to St. Thomas and take the sea plane. There is a ferry (also from St. Thomas), but I think it takes quite a bit of time.

The ferry is a really rough ride and takes quite a bit of time as it's abourt 40 miles. It's either Seaborne for the seaplane from Charlotte Amalie waterfront to C'Sted (just west of town) or Cape Air for airport to airport.

Call Seaborne Airlines. We did the reverse trip, STX to St John and back in a day. They can book both the ferry to CA and the way cool seaplane flight together. When we got to the ferry, a short walk from the seaplane dock, they were holding the boat for us. "Hey mon, you come de flyboat?"

Here is the ferry schedule if it is running........St Thomas to St Croix departing Fri, Sat, Sun, Mon only at 9:30am and 6:45pm returning back to St Thomas 7:30am (won't do you much good :) ) and 4:30pm. Fare is $90.00 roundtrip (I think anyway) and it takes 90 mins - on open water that can be rough :(

Your best bet is to take the seaplane :)
