SOTB II Trip Report Day 8 Part 2, Land Version
SOTB II Trip Report Day 8 Part 2, Land Version
The non-divers, 7 of us, went to Maho today. I think we left the villa around 9:30am. There wasn't a whole lot of beach, and it smelled a little funky after the heavy rain last night, but we found a spot suitable for all of us to stretch out. It was a partly sunny day. We had snacks and a fruity rum concoction to drink. We tried to use up what was left in the fridge.

Per the snorkelers, the clarity towards little Maho was cloudy and not great, but turtles and rays were spotted. I, the non-snorkeler found myself surrounded by several fish as I stood in the water with some of the others. I vowed not to scream or run away. I even walked thru the water, over to that area where there are millions of little fish. I had two sisters on either side of me. I actually enjoyed looking at them and discovering some cute colorful fish among the plainer guppy looking things.
We think Sybil never left the water today!
Friends from another forum (TTOL) showed up to meet Maggy. They had never met before in person, so this was fun for her. Judy and her husband joined us at our beach camp and later for lunch. Very nice folks.
Jayseadee's new camera decided to die today. Maybe it just needs surgery or some kind of transplant.
Around 1:30 we left the beach and headed over to Shipwreck Landing for lunch and shopping. The service was great and so was the food and drink. I like this place! The view is really nice and the shops right next door have some good stuff. I think everyone bought something. T-shirts, hot sauce, ornaments for the swap, etc. After lunch and shopping CypressGirl, VAGirl and Maggy went with Judy and her husband to take a tour of Island Horizons Villa. The rest of us hit the Cocolobo shops. Sybil and B-as-u-r made friends with a Coral Bay 4 legged resident. Next, we were off to Cruz Bay for even more shopping.

Finally it was time to head back to Oceana. 7 of us showered and went back out to the Beach Bar for dinner. We had drinks, grilled burritos, mahi sandwiches and maybe some other entree, cannot remember. Soon Mr. and Mrs. Shopper 3 and Mr. and Mrs. Nascarfan sat down at the table next to us. We chatted with them for a little while which was fun.

We all decided to take a walk over to the Quiet Mon in search of KC. On the way we ran into the DNA crowd, minus Jorge. I got a nice group shot of DNA/SOTB from across the street. No KC, but we watched other people from the porch at Quiet Mon, and of course had another drink. Sea-nile and I just couldn't get enough, so we went down to Woody's for just one more!

Back to Oceana for video interviews with Kati Karen Couric of WSTJ and packing.
Sadness was in the air. I don't think anyone was quite ready to end this tour.
Fabulous day today. Good times, good food, good drinks, good friends.

A few more pics from the day -
No food porn, but we did manage this drink porn - Mango Rasberry Daiquiri - after a couple of these, even the camera lens gets blurry

A few more hungry bananaquits

Great lunch - time to pay!

It was a great day. And as you've heard, we all got along fabulously - well, most of the time -
