Gerald Singer blog entry - Trinidad Charlie & Richard Ni

Post by RickG »

I've mentioned the blog by the "Off the Beaten Track" author before. I really like his story telling style. He mentions Richard Nixon, Trinidad Charlie and Kenny Chesney in an interesting story.

If you have not read these stories before, they are a great dialogue of St. John in the 1970s.

Rick, I too love this blog. Great history and recounts of the island's cast of characters and castaways.

He was there in September, but never really a resident. Property owner? Yes.

It looks like he dropped the price on the big house.

Thanks Rick---I'll have to start reading that blog---interesting stories you won't find anywhere else.

As to the Cathy Hartford/Huntington Hartford story, that family, unfortunately, had a rather tragic history (the kind that makes me glad I'm not rich):

Wow, it's gone from $14 million to $9.8 in less than a year. Hopefully he'll still make a profit.

Not really, he's been here for the last couple of days.

Heard he was coming for the time before thanksgiving.......
Actually he was expected to go to Ivans since he has not seen him since May........
9.8 million will give the little guy some spare change to put in the economy......heck he can buy Maho or at least give the land for public trust a good chunk of change........
I had thought that Islandia has that listing exclusively. I guess not

Unfortunately, there's not many of us left from that era with good enough memories to contradict Gerry's version of events, but please take those stories with a handful of salt! Of, course, I do realize that you want to be entertained......

Hugo, I've always viewed story telling as an art rather than a science. Show us some of your art! I'd love to hear how you came to St. John?

I think I'm more valuable to the forum in anonymity-- which is a very valuable state on a small island--although it is getting a teeny bit creepy, even to me! Maybe I'll just shut up for a while.
