Opening soon: The Crazy Cracker
November 19th, 2008

Meet April and Dave Wolf, who have taken over the old Duffy's Love Shack in Cruz Bay. They're transforming the space (which had a brief reprieve as Lizard's Landing before closing down a couple of years ago) into The Crazy Cracker, and hope to open in early December.

The Columbus, Georgia couple brings an extensive club and restaurant background with them, and say they are creating a fun, party place with affordable food and good music.

But first, there is much work to do, and their posse, many of whom came to St. John with April and Dave, are rolling up their sleeves and getting to work renovating the two story space. (Or, in the case of Jose and Dustin, below, doing away with sleeves - and almost everything else - altogether.)

Read our interview with April and Dave. Learn about their plans for food and fun, and how The Crazy Cracker gets its name, here!

Good luck to them. I have hated to see that spot empty the last several years, and this sounds like a good fit. Its great that they have a lot of experience in the food and beverage business.

I'm thinkin' the name is kind of dumb but that's just MHO. A more islandy kind of name would have been easier to remember. Maybe the name will catch on or not..... Maybe we'll check it out in Feb. Either way I wish them well.

The name doesn't matter to me one little bit, but when I first saw it, I related "Cracker" to more of a slang term that I hear often.

If it had been up to me to name it, I probably wouldn't have gone with that. I'm sure it will be a great place though!

I didn't think it was a good idea when I heard it - and said that to Ellen. They should re-think that a bit.
