oh sure, you can use ground red pepper, or a little cayenne. (the recipe already calls for cayenne so be careful.) you can omit it, too, no problem

piment d'espellette has a kick but a certain sweetness too. it's complicated.

Okay, question for all you wonderful chefs & Foodies out there! Or anyone that has enjoyed a sandwich similar to these:

I have eaten a couple of sandwiches at restaurants the last couple of months that had fruit sliced in. The first was a croissant with fresh turkey, melted brie, sliced strawberrys, and a creamy dresing. FANTASTIC!!

The other was recently. Virginia baked ham, melted cheddar, sliced apples, sweet/sour mayonaise type of dressing on toasted buttermilk bread.

I have had sliced cucumbers on a sandwich but I don't remember the combo. Simply put I love these variations and crunch/freshness that they offer to a sandwich. So both hubby & I like this taste. Any recipe ideas out there?? Something you've had a at restaurant. Thanking you in advance for input!! :P

Although I haven't tried this yet, it's in my pile of "to be tried" recipes. In my mind, it has to be good, but then again, I love sage.

Jan, I love fruit in sandwiches. Some of my go to ones are turkey, sliced peeled green apple, and cheddar--pressed and grilled; turkey, raspberries, bacon, and havarti either grilled or rolled up in a wrap; sharp cheddar, mango chutney, and apples, again pressed and grilled.

If you like cucumbers in sandwiches, one of my all time favorites is this one....It sounds really weird but it is awesome: drained three bean salad and lots of cucumbers, tossed with creamy cucumber dressing and stuffed into a pita that has been lined with lettuce.

Here are some photos from last night. Vegetarian summer rolls, with cucumber, papaya, carrot, and a peanut dipping sauce:

my version of tuna down now:

my favorite thing from last nigth, sticky vietnamese chicken in lettuce wraps. You put the chicken in the lettuce with the herbs and sprouts and some of the carrot pickle, wrap it all up and eat it:

I was thinking the same thing - we had PF Changs chicken lettuce wraps last night - at the time I thought they were the best - you out did them by a mile!

And your Tuna Down Now looks perfect!

I've never made Risotto - have to try it one of these days.

Since it's coming on Deer season again, I thought I had better use up last years shoot.

Last year I tried Venison stew, this year was Venison Chili:

Also wanted to show-off the new salt&pepper shakers I picked up from St. John Spice last week.
