SOTB II trip report days one and two

SOTB 2 Day one and two

Background:
SOTB meant Six on the Beach last year. This year we were Nine. We could not think of a new name and so we just kept calling ourselves SOTB 2. We really never agreed on what the "S" meant, so we all had our own versions, like Spoiled, Sisters, Sloshed, etc. Then we had the idea that we would all have names that started with an "S". Then RickG gave us Spice Girl names. Trying to keep them all straight while indulging in painkillers became difficult.

The forum names of the nine women who made the trip are: myself (Sea-nile), CypressGirl, VaGirl, Ksea, Jayseadee, Wounder Woman (new forum name), Maggy, B-as-u-r and her friend, a non-forum person, we will call her Sybil.

10-31

My flight that was supposed to leave Chicago at 5:45 am, left at about 7:00 am. Therefore when I got to Atlanta, I had to find my gate fast, and since I got lost, by the time I found the gate, they were boarding. Oh well, no wait then. I met Augie there. I knew that another SOTB II gal was on the flight, but she had already boarded. (Diana- Wounder Woman). I had never met her before.
So I was seated next to two very "fluffy" people, which gave me about one half of a seat. But, they were such nice people and I was headed to STJ, so I really didn't mind. 8)
My seat was at the very back of the plane in row 45, so everyone going to the bathroom passed by. There was this woman who was standing there, staring at me. I was wondering if she was laughing under her breath because I was squeezed in the seat, or did she recognize me from the forum? Finally she tells me she is Diana! Now I know what she looks like!
I arrived at STT airport and found Diana again. I was at the bar and a woman came up to me and asked me if I was sea-nile. It was Mrs. B, and Mr. B was with her of course. We had a drink, or two waiting for CypressGirl. We saw Augie and Leslie again. Soon we were off to the ferry. This is a shot of Mr. and Mrs. B and Diana at Red Hook.

Here is a shot of me when we arrived.

Cypress, Diana and I got our vehicles and then to the villa. We stayed at Oceana. It was gorgeous and just right for the nine of us. We will post pictures of it later.

Then we went Grocery shopping.
I took a picture in Starfish market, but I can't find it. Maybe I will add it later...

Then we thought we had time to put the groceries away before the arrival of b-as-u-r and her friend Sybil.
Cypress got lost on the way back to the villa. It was dark and since I got lost a lot in the coming days after, I will not criticize her at all. She drove great.

B-as-u-r and Sybil were late to arrive and called us, but we were slow to get there so they just went to Woody's. We met them at Woody's, ate and had a drink and went home. We never went out for Halloween like we were supposed to as a Devil, 3 witches and whatever Cypress was going to be. We were kind of out of it from the long day.
We just went back to the villa and had a few more drinks and talked.

Day Two- Hawksnest Beach and the rest arrive.

The five of us decided to head to the closest beach since we would have to get Maggy in the early afternoon. We went to Hawksnest. It was beautiful, but there wasn't much beach left. Our stuff was almost washed away several times and I kept running up to push it back further and further. We saw Mr. and Mrs. Shopper 3 there.

We had some Painkillers in Sippy Cups in the beach. These were the only plastic cups in the villa. So our new name for the day was "Sippy Cups on the Beach". 8)

We did some snorkeling and it was pretty good. The surf was up a bit, but not bad.

Maggy left some text messages that she was on a cab and then that she was on the ferry, so we finally rounded up our stuff and went to town to try to find her. B-as-u-r and I found someone sitting at a table and we thought it might be her so she jumped out and I went around the block and sure enough it was Maggy. We met the others at SunDog cafe and had lunch there. We went back to the villa and swam in the pool.

In the meantime, Ksea, VaGirl and Jayseadee met at the Miami airport and they all flew to STT together.
Here is a shot of them in the Miami airport and then STT and then a ferry shot.

They rented the 3rd car and soon arrived honking and as happy as clams!
Then we proceeded to drink, play music and ordered pizza. We took group pictures and posted one on the forum.

Sometime during that evening, VaGirl fell in the pool. It was one of those infinity pools that is level with the patio. Someone had shut off the lights. She walked right into the pool, but was glad that she saved her drink and did not break the glass! She lost her lime though as I found it at the bottom of the pool the next morning. She injured her foot pretty badly and was hurting the rest of the week. :( She can fill you in on that. We had a RN, Wounder Woman on board and she took care of the injury! We were glad to have out resident nurse!

Then RickG called and said that their whole group was there and it sounded like they were having fun!
We had all finally arrived- all Nine of us and we were so glad to be there! :D

What a great start to your trip (except for poor VaGirl's foot)!

Looking forward to hearing how the rest of your week unfolded...

I do too. Isn't that a great bag of tricks that she brings with her? 8)

Great Report Sea-nile.
I must admit I felt bad staring at you, before I approached you & asked if you were Sea-Nile, then I thought  Oh God what if you weren't & I just asked someone if they were Sea-Nile

Great report! How was Oceana? I am staying there in June with 2 other families. Does the photos do it justice?

Thanks so much,

Oceana is beautiful and there seems to be no expense spared. We did some quick re-arranging in the livingroom (couches facing each other), made the 2 kitchen tables into one and it was perfect for all of us. The dishwasher kept beeping at us, but the dishes were clean, so we did something right. We didn't do too much cooking but everything was there if we had chosen to. I do recall that we couldn't find a can opener. No big deal, Deb stabbed all our juice cans with a butcher knife. I guess we're lucky that Susan's foot was our only real mishap. The kitchen tended to be too warm at times, but there's plenty of great space on the deck, so we just moved out there. I stayed in the bedroom just opposite the kitchen and detached, which was absolutely wonderful. I think everyone was happy with their bedrooms and there was ample room for everyone to feel like they had plenty of space. If you're staying with other families and there are children, the pool size could be a potential problem. Not for 6 adults but 6 adults and some splashing children, hmmm? It's a small endless pool, basically good for just cooling off and hanging out with drinks. Oceana is easy to get to, the first right just past the Westin at the dumpster, so an easy ride home from Cruz Bay. The view is of the Westin and the harbor. Okay, not a northshore view but definitely another beautiful spot on STJ; no complaints. We did miss the fact that our villa didn't afford us a sunset, but we had some forum friends that invited us to share theirs, so we had at least 1 for the week (thanks again). The hot-tub is on the lower level and I think we made it in once or twice. Not our favorite thing to do this trip, but had it been closer to the pool, maybe it would have gotten more use? As to beach chairs, there were plenty at the villa. There were also 2 small coolers and one large one. If there's anything else we can answer, ask away. It's gorgeous and I'd definitely stay there again. Ali~

Hey sea-nile - Thanks for the report. I just realized that the original SOTB trip was the same week last year. How many of the girls from the first trip were able to go on the second trip? Betty/Beth couldn't make it this year?

Looks like a great time sea-nile. Must be nice to get there while it's still daytime. I wonder what that's like. :)
