First Time Visitors, Required Read

Post by bobcside »

Through the years I think everyone who posts or reads these forums learns of the damage being done to the ecostructure of these tropical islands. Especially as it pertains to the Coral and Wildlife. I think it would be a real good idea for the drop down screens on these web sites, that give travel, things to do , getting around and other info to visitors to include a "WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW" section that couples to the nps.gov web site so they may read and learn how very fragile things like Coral really are and what they can do to avoid contributing to the damage. I know you can never get to all of the people but every little bit helps. I believe most people who do cause damage don't do so malicously but instead are uniformed as to the consequences of their actions.. A little education goes a long way. What to you guys think? Here is the relevant site for the DPS I found and it is very informative. The scroll down menu on the left side covers the gamut.

Great idea. A little write-up about water conservation would be good too.

What a good idea! I know many people have written in their trip reports about seeing people standing on coral and wanting to throttle the person. I really like the idea of education links, although I realize it won't help in some cases. Some people truly are not aware of the coral being so fragile.
