DC area residents - Inauguration information?

DC Photo-I assume you will be working during the Inauguration? If so, do you have any idea what venue(s)?
How many more days?

I know I will be there for the swearing in, then I do the parade route and then that night I hope to get into one of the balls. Not sure which one yet. This will be my 4th inaugaration. First one was with Bill Clinton. If you are going to attend, be aware of crowds and security, especially this year. It gets quite crazy. You are not even allowed to cross the street, so pick your spot carefully along the parade route or you may become trapped in.( The police do not care if you have to go to the bathroom) Also, different police officers from around the country come in to help with security, there standard reply will be "No" to any question. Not sure if I would even go if I were not working and don't forget, it will be in January when it gets cold. I remember Clinton's and it got down to about 10 degrees. I was trying to photograph the fireworks on the Mall. I have never been that cold in my life.

The 1840's Carrollton Inn. Google their website. Pics of the rooms do not even come close to how awesome they are. I have seen about 8 of the 13. ( daughter's wedding was in the courtyard last month. Super nice people. Rooms go for $175-325 The higher prices being suites. ( daybed in the living room if you have kids) Rooms at the chain hotels go for the same rates and a pretty average.

All good info, especially about the lack of movement when waiting, thanks DCphoto.

Truthfully, I worry less about our son than I do his father, who can't stand it when temps dip below 40.

We need to sit down and seriously consider this adventure. I am all for tradition and education but I have my doubts that this is the year (or type of event) to do it.

Maybe I convince him to plan a trip at a not so crazy time to do more run of the mill DC things.

DC Photo-We will not be trying to make it, although we would really like to.

I hope that you can post some of your photos after the events so that we can enjoy it vicariously. I realize that some, if not all, of your photos may belong to some other entity, but one or two would be nice.
