question re eye doctor
The friend I am bringing lost her eye due to a tumor and has a prosthetic one. I would love to have in my back pocket the name of an eye doctor in case there is a problem.
Any suggestions-local or on St. Thomas...

I think the ceiling fan forumite just wore his prescription goggles. I do remember someone losing their glasses in the boat too. Maybe it was him.Tiger Prof. wrote:Didn't one of the forumites have to visit the eye doctor in St. John when he lost his glasses on the way to the BVI? Or was it when he got hit by the ceiling fan?
Anyway I remember him talking about an eye doctor on St. John.

Eye Doctor
Happy to report that St John now has our very own eye doctor. St John Eye Care is in the Boulon Center, next door to Dolphin Market. The doctor's name is Craig Friedenberg and the number is 340 779 2020.
I believe Dr. Friedenberg is an optometrist. In the event djmom's friend needed medical attention for her eye she would need an ophthalmologist. For those that don't know the difference, an optometrist has a doctorate, and is qualified to do refractions for eyeglass prescriptions, fit and sell eyeglasses, and to fit contact lenses. An ophthalmologist is a medical doctor specializing in the eye, and as such, with someone who has had a tumor, is the the expert that she would need in an emergency, though in such a case, I'm sure Dr. Friedenberg would be a good place to get a referal for a qualified MD.
