Airline ticket prices

Post by California Girl »

Just thought I'd share this piece of information with you because I can't be the only person sitting here with my mouth hanging open!

Ok, so I call Continental to see if we can upgrade to 1st class using our miles and I find out there aren't any upgrade seats available. Ok. That's fine.

So while I've got the lady on the phone, I ask what are regular coach tickets going for now on my flight (I thought they were sold out, but apparently not). I paid $478 apiece RT from LAX to STT back in July and I just KNEW I got a DEAL. The same tickets are now $1415.42 + $15.00 booking fee!! YIKES!!! I am SO glad I jumped early when I did!

same thing on our flight in May. I think we paid $408 total and my last update from Yapta said that same flight was at $1415 or something like that. That price has been hanging out there a while. I would think it will come down at some point but like you I'm glad I booked when I did.

I just checked our flight on United in June. It's the same $986 that it would have been when we booked it a couple months ago, but luckily we had miles!!!

The scary thing is that there are still only about 6 people on the plane and 3 of them are us!! Hope they don't cancel the flight. It's the only direct way to STT from Chicago, so hopefully more people will book. But with the economy and that price......
