Change of plans not staying on water island

Post by Robbin »

Ok
We have changed our plans and are not staying on wayer island. I was looking at missing alot of the night life if we stayed there. So we are looking at staying some place else without breaking the bank. I wonder if anyone that is going to be in st. john during our stay april 2-9 would like to share a villa to cut the cost. No crazy people, we are very quite and are very laid back. the only thing I hope to happen is to catch site of the big boy on the island.let me know Robbin.

We are going to do the same thing, but we want to get into May and avoid the high season prices completely.

Are your dates flexible?

Robbin - try Sailview Suites. They come highly recommended and it's less than Hillcrest. http://www.sailviewstjohn.com/

Robbin - there are a few factors that determine what is "perfect" for you. Everyone's idea of the best place to stay is personal.

1. Are you renting a car? Expect $500 or so for the week. You will need a car to get to most beaches.

2. Do you want to be close to a main town where there are restaurants, bars, etc? Or, do you prefer more solitude?

3. What is your budget?

I think those three questions should help us all narrow things down for you. For example, rentals are generally less expensive in Coral Bay, but you MUST have a car and will be a good 20 (windy, twisty) minutes from the main town. Lodging is more expensive in and around Cruz Bay, but you could really get by without having a car for the whole trip, provided you are willing to take taxis.

2 people going to rent a car don't really care where as long as we have a good ocean view prefer higher up, would like cable tv and a kitchen.

Hillcrest Guest House at $1300/week may actually be a good option for you. Its close to the main town of Cruz Bay where most of the nightlife is located. You could probably find a nicer cottage in Coral Bay for about that price, but you will be in a more remote location. Good luck whatever you choose.

You might also look at the waterfront studios at Coconut Coast Villas. On the water, walking distance to town---sort of (over a hill), and they change to lower rates on April 1.Haven't stayed there personally.
