bakerys.......
I am not a seeker of bakeries ever....so i have no knowledge of what is available on StJ. but......
I need a cake on christmas day--(or evening)--it is my daughters 12th birthday!
last time she had a birthday there (she was 3) we stayed at Maho and they arranged for a large cake that we could share with everyone-
we'll be at Concordia for this part of the trip and I assume i could arrange this thru them as well, but we haven't settled on where to go for dinner christmas night-, are there bakeries any of you can recommend? (we'll be in the tents, so I can't cook it--unless someone knows of a stovetop cake recipe!)
best

< leaving on the 22nd of march...but too lame to figure out the ticker thing again!>
We got a birthday cake at Baked in the Sun last year, and it was delicious. I'm not sure that they'd be open Christmas Day, so you might have to get it the day before. Let me see if I can find their number for you, although they told me to stop by the Marketplace the day before and order it. Might be harder to do during the holidays.
Here is their web site.

Someone else told me about somewhere else to get a cake, but I have no idea where it was.
Before you freak out at the prices, those are for wedding cakes. For a 2-layer round birthday cake with mango filling that fed 10 people, we paid $25. I thought it was very reasonable, considering it was the best birthday cake I'd ever had and my cousin is a caterer who has a waiting list for her cakes!

Does Baked in the Sun make cupcakes or pies? Traveling with a teenager who will have a birthday while on island. Favorite is chocolate cream pie but also loves cupcakes.
Just a note, we will be leaving Cruz Bay the morning of the b-day and heading to Coral Bay. So a bakery at either end of the island will work.
Thanks so much.

We love everything at Baked in the Sun. The Key Lime Pie was great. I'd definitely ask about the chocolate cream pie, I bet they could make one. Also, they do make cupcakes. However, my 10 year old cousin got one the last time we were down there and thought it was gross. He was expecting something like a cupcake from your local grocery store bakery and this one was homemade and not near as sweet. Just FYI!
