Is Cafe Roma's Open Yet? Anybody know?

Post by Bumblebee2 »

I have some friends leaving tomorrow for their first trip to St. John. I'm hoping Cafe Roma's will have reopened by then but I haven't heard any update lately. Anybody have the scoop?

Thanks.

We just left on Tuesday and it still wasn't opened. It didn't even look like anyone was ever in there working to get it opened. I hope the new owners will reopen soon! We loved Cafe Roma and were sorry to have missed it!

From Tradewinds newspaper:

New Cafe Roma owner John Hiebert is ready to open the popular Cruz Bay Italian eatery on Friday evening, October 24. Hiebert bought Cafe Roma in July and spent the summer relocating his family from Vermont and renovating the second floor restaurant. The floor was re-tiled and the bar has a fresh coat of paint, but the characteristic Italian lanscapes are still on the walls. And the plush stars are still hanging from the ceiling - but they've been cleaned and are whiter than ever, Hiebert said. The menu is basically the same with a few new additions like caesar salad and chicken marsala and picatta. But don't worry, Hiebert is not messing with the popular pizza recipe. Cafe Roma will be open for dinner Monday through Saturday from 5 to 10 p.m. until season, when it will open seven days a week for dinner.
Peace,
bj

I said our first night was going to be Uncle Joe's, but now I'm thinking pizza in paradise sounds yummy.

Thanks BJ for the info. How exciting! I can't wait to hear how he does as the new owner. I'm hoping for some wonderful reviews.

Today ON-STJOHN has an article on the reopening of Cafe Roma. It has links to the new menu and an interview with the new owner John Hiebert.

There's a nice write-up in News of St. John today too.

I need to go check out the Cafe Roma Web site, but I think I'll be having pizza in paradise!

The shrimp and scallop scampi pizza sounds amazing.

I'm not sure what I'll end up getting, but I don't know when I'm going to end up cooking!

Cafe Roma has always been one of our favorites that we visit every time. That menu has my mouth watering too. There seem to be quite a few new additions or at least variations. Looking forward to eating there again.
