Recent Zozo's experiences?

Post by RickG »

Any recent experiences at Zozo's - good or bad? Frankly, I've been avoiding the place since our last few experiences. We really liked the place before they moved.

none to report, but Cafe Roma is reopening on the 25th--if you decide to try it out, let us know what you thought.

Rick, we ate there during our recent trip (Oct 3rd - 11th). Zozo's was the only restaurant that seemed busy on the island. We had a solid experience. The wines on the wine list were 50% off, so we ended ordering several bottles. The service was attentive without being annoying and the food was good.

I've been to Zozo's twice, and I never left saying "wow," but I always think the food is very good. Same this time - I had the Mahi and my husband had some beef special. Our dessert was really good.

I personally prefer Asoloare to Zozo's (if I were to splurge on one big meal), just because Italian food on an island never seems right to me. Too heavy or something.

Our experience is almost a year old but our dinner was outstanding. The 5 of us who dined all agreed it was our best dinner on the island!

Robin has several relatively recent reviews in his restaurant blog:

We had a good dinner and good service at Zozo's back in March, but keep in mind that my critical faculties soften after several cocktails and a beautiful sunset! If you are not going in part for the view there might be better options. I do agree with alw that Italian food can be too heavy on an island---get the MahiMahi rather than Osso Buco.

Last time we ate there was about 4 months ago. My honest opinion was "We've had better meals here in the past". I mentioned that to my husband later and he agreed that the meal was slightly below ZoZo's norm. We always eat seafood there so cannot comment on any meat dish. We are willing to try ZoZo's again next year, but if we get the same kind of result again, it may fall from our "must do" list. That being said, they still serve good food.

I've never had a bad meal at Zozo's. For me it's always the Osso Bucco and the Fried Calamari and pesto sauce as a starter.

Seems steady over the years

We ate there the beginning of this month. My wife and I both enjoyed our food, the service was good, the view was great! It wasn't the best meal I've ever had but I preferred it to Asolare. The wife preferred Asolare.

Mornin' RG! We were at Zo-Zo's last Saturday evening for our sunset meal at the bar! Carlos waited on us hand and foot! If you enjoy a margarita or two...you must try one of his Patron margarita's...talk about smooth...yum! Between the four of us...we skimped and only had three apps! (hehehe) We had the Bruschetta du Jour (of course) topped with a perfectly spicy Italian ham that was simply to die for. The Lobster Fettucine was also to die for...by all accounts. But the Homemade Toretellini stuffed with cheese, mushrooms and fresh spinach...oh my. I'm still thinking about the Tortellini. Hands down my new favorite food on island. Hands down. Three out of the four had the Beef Tenderloin...why wouldn'tcha???

A perfect medium rare...and those crunchy onions...mmmmmmmmmm.

One order of the Jumbo Shrimp over Angel Hair Pasta...had to have been only 6-8 count...looked like prawns...beautiful and delicious!

Without fail...we split two orders of the Chocolate Torte...hello food coma!!!

Image

Our reservation was at 6:15...just relax & watch the sun go down! Tell Carlos "Hey" for us!

I'm with RickG. Loved ZoZo's at the old location but tried twice since they moved and have not been at all impressed.

JC - I'll have my driver with me in March :D He's forcing me back in the saddle. Lessons will commence on the Northshore Road near the scene of the last attack

We're on island 3/15 - 3/27. Not as long as your semester on St John  but it's longer than our usual 8-10 days....

I Can't Wait!
