Same thing happened to Ivan when he was in Kenny's video.......
Charlie is a nice guy, he would probably just laugh but get the people to fall in love with St. John and forget Kenny.......Heck Lina(his wife) can give people massages.......she is good.......was my massage therapist when I lived on island

From the November issue of Caribbean Travel & Life magazine...
Kenny Chesney's Island Soul interview
On your new album there's a song called "Nowhere to Go, Nowhere to Be," which has a character named Trinidad Charlie. Where did you meet him?
It was the middle of my 2006 tour, and I was exhausted and in a funky place mentally, between the pressures of the road and the breakup with Renée. I got three days off, so I went down by myself, and one day I got in my Jeep and drove over to a funky bar on the north side of St. John called Island Blues. I ordered gumbo and a beer and sat there all afternoon next to Trinidad Charlie, this local cat who sells hot sauce. For the first time in a long time I felt a stillness in my heart and mind. It was a good day. I went home and pulled out the notes I wrote at the bar, watched the sunset, stared at St. Thomas and wrote this song. And that's where this album was born.

Just listened to Kennys cd yesterday, the boy did good
Don't know how ya couldn't listen to the words and not respect his music even if ya hate country. He's come a long way since SHE THINKS MY TRACTORS SEXY don't ya think.
Brenda love Hootie too
Who would of thunk country
from Darius Rucker. Some great lyrics on that one too.
Think he pulled it off rather nicely. My wife played the first song and asked me who was it and I couldn't guess. She said Hootie and I was suprised I didn't guess him as he has such a unique voice guess the country thew me.

Hey Captain...that wasn't Hootie. That's Dave Matthews and I LOVE that song.
I pretty much like everything on the CD. Been playing it over and over in my car.
By the way..."She Things My Tractors Sexy" is probably one of the most fun songs he sings at his concert. The first 8 bars, people go crazy. It's just a fun song.

Love the cd! I have to say I'm a little obsessed with it actually...lol
So I'm curious...do people on STJ really not like Kenny? I read a comment that said someone did not like "the man" (although i saw that was changed after listening to the cd
) but then read another comment saying "...if he didn't know who was singing"
Just curious!

That's okay if you don't like it. I would never bash you for that.
I like it because it makes me think of STJ and the Caribbean. I like the song Boats. It's catchy. Spirt of a Storm is really nice too. You just know that he is singing about things that he loves, and that's good enough for me.

I only purchased the new songs. I didn't bother with the repeats. Sometimes I like live versions of songs, but usually I enjoy the recording studio versions more.
But you're right, it was kind of lazy. I really really like the other songs though!

Even without the live songs, there was a full album of new stuff. In fact, those were just free tracks that you got for purchasing it. (They came as a second disk if you bought the actual CD or so the peeps tell me.) I think the live versions of songs from Be As You Are that he normally doesn't sing live were a nice added touch. However, I haven't really made it past all the new stuff to listen to them more than once or twice.
Don't think there is anything lazy about KC...he seems like a workaholic to me...those were bonus tracks that came on a separate CD with the actual purchase. Also, I purchased in advance on his web site and got another bonus track to downland called Slow Down that is also great! I love how his songs actually "take you there" and make you feel the words, especially when we all have a connection to his beloved Caribbean (not just STJ) Relax and enjoy!
