We are contemplating adding this babe to our brood. Should we or shouldn't we? Step one is talking her dad out of her. Seems this little runt (she's half the size of the rest of her litter) has him by the heart strings.
Once I am 100% committed, I won't hesitate to use the sweet innocent pleadings of my 6 year old to get this little one
Either way this baby girl will have a great home and I just wanted to share her sweet face with you all.

Do you have a dog now. He is a cutie, but it is very much like having another baby. Just think about all angles. Where would you leave the dog when you travel. How much of the day would he be spending alone when you work, I think he is a begale right... do they do well being left alone for long periods of time, do they do well with kids. You can be sure as much as mini flip assures you that she will take care of the dog she will not and it will become your responsibility. That face is hard to say no to!

This is Butkus. We adopted him about a month ago. One word of caution about beagles...they howl!

Girl, give it up. That puppy is already yours and you know it. You just haven't said the official words yet. Okay, if you REALLY need reasons:
1. You know, and I know, and you know I know, that you've already named the puppy.
2. From experience, I can tell you two dogs are better than one - they keep each other entertained making you not have to throw the slimy wet ball quite as often (because one usually steals it from the other and goes and hides it under the sofa) and making you feel less guilty when you aren't home as much.
3. That face.
4. Butter is adorable, but Max and Ella are small people and a smaller pet might give them someone they can hold on occasion instead of just trying to ride like a pony.
5. The more girls in the house, the better.
6. You can bond with Pete and Marcia over beagle puppy poop and whether or not it's normal for the puppy to chew the entire toilet paper roll.
7. That face.
8. Because you can't hug a fish, and isn't it about ready to get flushed anyway?
9. You know you will get joy from letting her poo on Sarah's face when you line her cage with the newspaper.
10. You probably wanted new carpet anyway.

I did come home the other night to my unhappy husband saying that Butter may have sealed the poor puppy's fate. It seems she wanted something on the counter and in the process of attempting to get it broke my brother in law's VERY expensive camera and lens. My argument is a beagle would NEVER be tall enough to reach the counter.

Beagle's are really cool little dogs. We have 3 that come to our doggy daycare- Annie & Dakota & Benny.
They are tough, bouncy, really fast runners, loveable and fun.
That being said, they are hunting/working dogs and need an outlet, they bark/howl a lot and loudly
, they have a strong prey drive, they will not just hang out in an unfenced yard and may try to dig under a fence or find a creative way out of a fenced yard.
If you prepare yourself for a lotta dog in a little package, then go for it!

LysaC-I too am a big fan of choosing a breed that fits your personality and lifestyle. For that very reason we looked at Basset Hounds and Corgis. We settled on Corgis and they fit right into our lives.
I could definitely never own a retriever (since I hate to throw a ball that much!) or a Border Collie because they require so much exercise to keep them sane.
We also had a neighbor behind us who had a beagle. It howled and barked a lot. Eventually he got rid of it because the neighbors on either side complained so much.
Sadly I think folks (Flip Flop is NOT guilty of this) tend to fall in love with a breed because of the way it looks and don't think about what that dogs traits are and what demands it makes on its owner based upon its instictive behavior.
It wasn't the beagle's fault, just the way he rolled but sadly suffered for it.
