Eye-Fi: Wi-Fi camera memory card
Eye-Fi: Wi-Fi camera memory card
Anyone have experience with using an Eye-Fi SD card? They advertise wireless uploads to your computer and photo sites. http://www.eye.fi/
This looks like a pretty useful unit. You do need to use your PC or Mac to configure a new wireless network and photo site. But, once configured, all photos are synced with your computer and photo site.
I was looking at this for an office application, but I realized that it would be useful in general use. The only problem is practicing camera hygiene to avoid those embarrassing photos as those Blackout Punches go down.

I just went to their web site, Rick, and it looks interesting. All I do now is take the card out of my camera and put it into my computer and download the pictures. I guess this would save a step or two in that process.
My question would be, if I have 139 pictures on my card and I take two new ones of my cats, are all of the other 139 pictures going to be transferred again? It doesn't say you have the ability to only transfer the ones you want, it just says, they all will automatically be transferred to your computer, to a folder of your choice.
Oh yeah, and I also have three computers in my house that use the same wi-fi network. I wonder if the pictures would be downloaded to all three of the computers regardless of choice? And yes, I would load the software onto each computer, because I store photos in each of them.
I'd be interested in hearing from some one who has used the card, too.

Bert, if you already transferred the 139 pictures why are they still on your card?
When I download via my card reader I have the option to delete from card after transfer is complete. I would wonder if that's available with because to delete photos from your card manually is a total PITA in my opinon.

Mary Beth, I leave them on the card for a short while after I download them as a back up. Then I usually format the card and it wipes it. I have had my computer crash without warning before. So now I have a back up for everything!
But you raise another interesting question. I wonder if any one out there in VIOL land has used one of the cards?
