Important question  I'm going to buy one bottle and take with me home in November, so I need to know too.

I say Cru-zan but don't know if that is the correct way to pronounce it.

Hubby worked for them for 10 years & we have spent time in STX with the owners - Cru- shun is the way they say it. I have heard a lot of the sales force say Cru - san when dealing w/public since that is the way most people say it. Either way works as long as you drink it in their minds.

Not to argue with cocosmom but in my book and others here in STT we say cru-zan. We say cru-shun for the people but I have heard some refer to the rum as the latter.

I always heard it pronounced:

wa-ter, as it seemingly comes out of the spigots.

I agree with Ron. The people who live on St. Croix are referred to as Cru-shun. But I worked for the Alcohol Beverage Control for 12 years and all the liquor reps referred to the rum as Cru-zan. But as long as they keep making it in the VI, then call it whatever you want and just keep drinking it!!! :D

If you go to their website: http://cruzanrum.com/ you can watch some of the videos of St. Croix or making drinks and you can hear the owner pronounce it...plus you can watch them make my favorite...voodoo juice.

CG:

I've always thought it was pronounced like the american term for driving around in a car. Also, I assume it needs to form a rhyme in the drink Cruzan Confusion. (that is ONE a$$ kicker)

I always say it like "cruisin," although I have heard it pronounced many different ways.

Oh, sweet voodoo juice. I might have to see what I'd need to fix some of that up. Much like going to the tanning bed, I'm trying to work my way up to a nice "base drunk" before our trip next month! :D

I know that Kenny Chesney says Crusin' too. As in "That chair was my bed one New Year's night, When I passed out from too much Cruzan and diet".

However I just looked up the lyrics online and they all say "Malibu" instead of "Cruzan"... what's up with that? He says "Cruzin" on my CD!

I know! I know!

But please don't hold my KC knowledge against me. It's accidental!

KC wrote that song before he got that big sponsorship from Cruzan, and the original lyrics as he wrote them were "Malibu and diet."

After Cruzan gave him money, he changed it for his Be As You Are album.

Well, all I can say is, I've never heard the "Malibu" version, but it seems to me that "Cruzan" fits into the song better.

The Malibu version is on his When the Sun Goes Down CD, which I bought for the song "Being Drunk's a lot like loving you." I still to this day almost always sing it with Malibu because that's how I first heard it. Which is funny, because malibu is my least favorite coconut rum. (I used to be a Parrot Bay girl until I started drinking Cruzan.)
