Hi Bill---We went to Cabo on two Spring Break trips---once in 2005 and once in 2007. We had a wonderful time on each trip. The weather is perfect (basically no rain from January-June), the food and drink was great, the Mexican people were very welcoming. The beaches and water do not compare to St. John---but not many places do. I spent mountains of time researching these trips (I was the organizer for larger groups) so let me know if you want specific info---hotels, restaurants, beaches---I do have some money-saving tips if you haven't booked your accomodations yet. Here are a couple pics from Cabo:

Hey Bill - I just got invited on a 3-day Fam trip to Cabo in early December. I'll be there checking out hotels, restaurants, etc. If I can zero in on anything specific for you while I'm there, I'll be happy to do that! :D

We ended up in Cabo three years ago for our honeymoon. Everything we had planned was cancelled due to a hurricane!

It was a wonderful trip. We enjoyed our all inclusive resort The Riu Palace. It wasn't the top of the line, but still really nice. Some of our highlights.

1. Taking a taxi to Chileno Bay one morning with another honeymoon couple and renting snorkel equipment at the entrance (now I'd take my own). No one was on the beach for several hours and we snorkeled forever. Just make sure you takes drinks/snacks because there are no facilities. A tour group came by boat, stayed about 45 minutes and left and we were alone again. We had great success snorkeling here.

2. Da Giorgio on the cliff. Italian restaurant with an amazing setting. Literally built right on the side of a cliff with outside dining. Expensive, but worth every penny, great wine list, food and service. Make reservations for sunset!

3. La Princessa sunset cruise-a full boat, but plenty of room, drinks flowed freely, but a relaxed atmosphere. Sitting in the middle of the ocean watching the sun sink into the water on the horizon was priceless, it was so quite at that moment you could've heard a pin drop.

4. Taking water taxi to Lover's Beach. Rough getting into the taxi from the beach with those huge waves, but great to see the other side and there was some snorkeling on the calm side.

The one thing we suggest avoiding is the Hard Rock. There was no atmosphere to this location at all and the food wasn't even up to standard Hard Rock fare.

We'd go back in a heartbeat! We just keep choosing St. John.

You will all enjoy your trips!

Hey Bill - We were there in 2005 and a must see for us was Sammy Haggar's Cobo Wobo Club. Lots of restaurants in town including a Hard Rock Cafe. Out of all the towns we have visited in Mexico, this is the only place we have considered for a return trip. No pushy vendors or people begging on the streets (sad situation in some other places). Remember when you stop in the shops all the marked prices are negotiable.

Bill,
Hubby and I went three years ago and had a great time. We are thinking of going there for a girls' getaway in the spring. I would be curious to hear more updated info. too! We stayed at Fiesta Americana Grand Los Cabos and really liked it, but I think we will look for somewhere different this time.

Iowaguy,
Where did you stay?

Nic,
I'm glad to hear good things about the Riu too. We have stayed at the Riu Palace in Cancun before. All-inclusives can be nice on girls' trips. The guys know how much money we have to spend up front.

Anthony,
I will have to check out your information too! Thanks for the links!

My trip is being hosted by a destination management company who has invited me along with 9 other people in the incentive travel industry down to show us what Cabo San Lucas can offer us in the way of 5-star properties so we will bring large groups of people down there. We will also be wined & dined, so they can show us what cuisines are offered, we'll be given some sort of tour to show us what there is to do. This will all happen in 3 days! I will be going to Cabo on Dec. 3rd & will be returning on Dec. 6th. I promise to take lots of notes and pick up lots of literature. Knowing what kind of information all you guys want, I think the results of my trip will be just what you're looking for! :) I probably won't get to snorkel or fish so I won't have much to offer in that regard, but I should be getting an itinerary soon, and then I'll know exactly what's what. :D
