CG, thanks for asking. We came in 2nd and we had a lot of fun for a good cause.

It was last Friday. My staff ended up using several recipes (including these, so thanks guys!) and pulling off items they liked to create their own recipe. Then I had to make it. I wanted to rename the chili to "$100 chili" after buying the ingredients! It was to raise money for charity, though, so I guess it was okay.

Our name and theme? Are you ready for it? It's really bad....are you sure you're ready? Okay, we called it....

"FREE GAS Chili...the chili may cost $5, but today, the gas is on us!"

We went with a gas station theme. We even had a car and a gas pump.

I told you it was bad.

The recipe for one pot (it was pretty good):

1/2 lb. thick sliced bacon
1/2 lb. ground pork
1/2 lb. ground sirloin
1.5 lb. beef brisket
1 large onion
4-5 cloves garlic
1 lb. fresh tomatoes
Peppers to taste: pasillo, habanero, & serrano
1 can pinto beans
1 can red beans
1 can green chiles
1 can tomato sauce
1 T cumin
1 t salt
1 t oregano
1 T dry mustard
2 T chili powder
1 t beef bullion granules (1 cube)
2 t hot sauce (I used Trinidad Charlie!)
1 T cornmeal
1/2 can tomato paste
8 oz. mexican beer
1 oz. tequila
Juice of 1 lime

That sounds good. I made chili yesterday too. Less complicated and less meat than some of the recipes here, but it came out very good. Basically saute garlic, onion, hot and sweet peppers from the garden in some beer, then browned 2 packs of ground turkey, then added assorted light and dark beans, assorted herbs from the garden, couple cans chopped tomatoes, chopped/shredded carrot and zucchini, salt, thyme, cumin, chili powder.

Awesome theming!

I've never made a decent chili. It seems to be one of those foods I can't wrap my head around.

Maybe Becky just decided not to cook chili so that someone else would have a chance to be the best at it!

Crazy talk. Stuff could probably fall out of her pantry into a pot and it would better than mine.
