I'm tired of all this political talk...

I stopped reading a while ago. Things just got so nasty. This is a vacation destination forum for crying out loud! I'm with everyone else -- Bring on the trip reports! We haven't had one in a while.

I love politics and could talk about it way past the time that normal people tire of the topic. Because of the Iowa caucuses, we get a lot of face time with the politicians. But I don't think it has a place on the USVI Forum, and it has the potential to hurt feelings on a Board that is otherwise known for "good feelings." So, I've stayed away from it on this Board.

I think it's fine to keep them. "Off topic" is "off topic." There are several long-running OT threads that I have no interest in and never read.

I found the political threads interesting for a while and posted on a couple of them. I haven't been reading them lately and don't care if they're there. I sometimes think it's a good idea to keep a thread around where people who enjoy bickering can meet. Keep it contained. For me the most interesting feature was seeing sides of some posters that I hadn't been seen previously. Somewhat surprising. Not like learning that your elderly neighbor is a Nazi war criminal, but still puts some people in a very different light.

Now it's in my head too! Actually, it probably surfaces once a week for me - on Mondays - imagine that!

I'm tired of it too. Never bothered to get involved in it. It's a no win situation. I know who I am voting for, but I'm not sharing  . Oh, and all of the bickering didn't sway me one way or the other.

SJ, why did you feel it was necessary to bring the political issues to this thread? If you had read through this thread, you would have seen that I stated that I have not followed those other threads for days, but I was tired of seeing the top 4 or 5 threads on this forum all about political arguing. So, if you think it's interesting to see how many people complain about those threads, why would you drag that $hit into this one?

My dad fought in WWII also. I'm sure so did most everyone else's dad who is our age. What does that have to do with today's arguments?

On one of those other threads I made a big post about how wonderful America is and, warts and all, I still think it's the best country in the world, but that post got completely ignored so everyone could stomp all over everyone else. Is everyone so angry about the Presidental and VP candidates they can't stop to recognize that fact?

Please don't respond to this, I don't want this thread to get all warped like those other ones. This thread is for people to complain about the threads complaining about political arguing.

Don't bring that over here, please.

[quote="SJfromNJ"]It is interesting to me that many who are sick of the political posts actually read them! When I see a topic which I am uninterested in, I don't open it.

Just because I was tired of that thread/threads doesn't mean that I am not interested in politics or reading peoples views. I just thought it was getting very redundant. Just my little old opinion.
