Soxfan - I just had to reply to your example of Obama / Neville Chamberlin. When Chamberlin went to talk to Adolf, Germany was already attacking other countries. Which country is/was Iran attacking? The only war they've had in the last few decades was the one where the US backed Iraq/Saddam in attacking Iran! Why are the Neo-Cons so afraid to talk to people that do not agree with us? And why are we so afraid that Iran might make a nuke? There are LOTS of countries that have them. And they all know perfectly well what would happen if they used them. These guys may not agree with us, but I do not believe they would be stupid enough to want us to obliterate their entire country. Not much point in striking a blow for Allah if everyone in your country is dead...... By the way, I'm a Republican too. Just not a very happy Republican.

Of course Katie Couric taped for two hours and showed fifteen minutes of footage. That's how broadcast journalism works, for better or worse. How many people watch 60 minutes vs. C-SPAN? People want soundbites, not the whole story.

I am not 100% positive that Barack Obama is not some shady SOB. Based on the fact that he's an elected official, there's a very good possibility that he is.

In 1980, Ronald Reagan won the election because he asked the American people: "Are you better off now than you were four years ago?"

Clearly, the answer today is no. I cannot answer yes, so I cannot vote for someone who has supported the current administration more than 90 percent of the time.

What's good for the goose, is good for the gander, eh?

So what is better getting some trim, or trimming some brush!?
SJ - That is quite the retort. And all the words are spelled correctly too. Good for you!

Those other countries have not come to the UN and said publicly that the "Holocaust never happened".

They've never said that their intention is to "Wipe Israel off the face of the Earth".

Hitler used to say a lot of crazy shit too, and not many people believed him. Until of course, it was too late. Read Mein Kampf sometime.

Also, is it coincidental that the translation for:

Mein Kampf = My Struggle
Jihad = My Internal Struggle

Keep underestimating evil...And BTW, we have had multilateral talks with North Korea over the last few years...Dems protested that (remember Kerry saying Bush was wrong for entering into multi-lateral talks with Kim Jung-Il). So which is it Dems...Should we talk, or shouldn't we?

The answer is every case is different - and you can't have productive talks with an insane madman who wishes to wipe from the map us and our closest ally in the region.

SJfromNJ wrote: Didn't the stock market hit 14000 during the Bush administation? There are several reason which I beleive have led to the economy going bad:

1. downturn in the housing market

a. When the housing market was high a lot of people took equity out of their home or bought homes with sub prime loans. The bubble in the housing market burst (not to any political issues but just the the house market had gone up for 30 years straight) and people wre stuck with loans they could not afford, and upside down on their loans. Freddic Mac and Fanny May packaged these bad loans up as inversments and were purchased by large investment banking companies as investments. Thus the $850 billion in taxpayer money in order to free up the now frozen credit market.

2. high cost of energy - causes everything to cost more. Our government has know we were going to have this issue for 30+ years. There is no insentive to change when the times are good and everyone is getting fat. Big oil getting even fatter now.

3. Outsourcing of US manufacturing jobs to India, Mexico, and China - NAFTA signed by Clinton turns out to be a bad deal for the US workforce. Yeah, they are going to retrain us right? How safe are the products comming from China these days? How safe is that tomato grown in Mexico?

The stuffed suits in Washington are mostly to blame. Get rid of them all. I don't care how smart thay appear, I would rather vote for the pig farmer down the street than any of these candidates.
Yes, but all those things you listed happened on his watch.....

It's amazing how far reaching Clinton's administration has gone...even 8 years after he is out of office.....cool.

Oh, and I do agree with your last statement.

I hardly ever post, but I must comment on this topic. I love STJ and am so addicted I may never travel anywhere else. That's ok, because I am old and have been fortunate enough to travel lots of places.
It is disappointing to me to see the divergence of opinions on this forum with such imbedded venom.
Unfortunately, I have an opinion too and I feel just as strongly about my opinion. You won't catch me expressing it...I would be called stupid, or you, with the accent...or you, you're rich...or what do you know, you didn't go to Harvard....or,. lets see you can't name the supreme court opinion you like the least (how about all of them)..or even more stupid, what about watching the Great Depression...on TV?
They say that the "final straw" is usually something in the scheme of things that is quite insignificant; in my case, it was Larry King's interview of that Iranian guy. I am referring to his questions such as " are you married" and "do you have any children?"
The bottom line is: stuff going on in this country makes no sense.

And the U.N. resolutions? The umteen countries that agreed with the Iraq situation... Clinton agreed too, I could go on and on but this is a dead horse that with statements like yours it's obvious that you are so uninformed/blinded by the facts that it just
doesn't make sense for me to waste my time. TGIF. I closed the company early and am headed to my lush, opulent lake house. Thanks for the tax break W !!
That's what happens when one perpetrates fraud...they get others to go along with what they are "selling."

I, too, am going to close up the business and head to my house on the lake. We gave our tax break to the Obama campaign after hearing Palin speak. Thanks W.

By the way, if we both have houses on lakes, what the hell are we doing get tax breaks?
Stealing from the poor and middle class and giving to the rich, what else? Oh yea, maybe has something to do with providing 10 professional positions within our company to others. Of which some will have to be elminated when Obama raises my taxes another 15%, hope it's not one of you.

I just thinking about the first time I saw McCain introducing Palin on TV.

I couldn’t hear the sound and I thought, what, is he introducing his third wife? You know, maybe time to trade in the older bleached blond look for the younger, dark haired sexy secretary look. No? Then I thought, what the heck is Tina Fey doing endorsing John McCain? Isn’t she one of those baby killing/flag burning,/tree hugging/gay marrying/media elite Libs?

Oh. Of course it’s not Tina. That’s his VP choice. Great! Thanks Senator McCain! Now Tina can make guest appearances on SNL doing a spot on Palin, making the first 15 minutes of that show worth watching again.
