CONGRATS! Capt. Phil

Post by Carolyn »

I just got my Nov issue of Caribbean Travel and Life and he won a category on their photo contest...page 82 on the "anything goes" sub-category. A quick first look seems his is the only STJ entry.

Congrats..wonder who the subject is and if she knows about the photo?

Margo...I think that recent photo of your kitty (Jack?) poking out of the tree leaves could be a winner somewhere!

LOVE that one!

Call me a sucker for cute animal photos!

Awww... thanks Carolyn! Here's the one I was going to submit to the contest: http://www.pbase.com/thegripps/image/80153129

Like I said, maybe next year.

Funny thing, Capt. Phil has some of my pictures on his website! LOL! I guess it's just a mutual admiration society! His winner is aweome! I wonder if that's his main squeeze, Allison? Sort of looks like her.

In CT&L, on the opposite page of Capt. Phil's entry, there is a gorgeous picture of Maho with a sailboat. It's very different - has that silvery green tint you often see very late afternoon, rather than the usual vibrant blues.

Both pix are beautiful.

Can anyone post Capt. Phil's photo from the magazine? I looked at the website and don't see it, just the articles. We love this guy - did a daysail to Jost in June and can't give enough kudos for the wonderful experience. Tarn is every bit as awesome in her "laid back, let me tell you how it,let's don't get hurt" way!

Agree the Maho photo and Capt. Phil's photo are great shots. Some of the others are a little underwhelming. We see comparable or better stuff here from lotsa different folks.

Ha! That's exactly why I thought I could enter a contest. Next year for sure! I even went so far this year as to get my photo printed and ready to send in! I'm such a procrastinator!!!!

I admit to being underwhelmed too-the grand prize one didn't do it for me-but then maybe I don't have the "eye".
