Estate Concordia Questions
Hi- I have been reading(and sometimes responding) to questions in these forums for awhile-we are going to be staying in an Estate Condordia Studio March 24-31 in order to save money so we can come back more oftern. Last time we stayed in a villa (Over the Rainbow)where we had a phone and washing machine. Does Concordia have a pay phone and washing machines? I'd like to be able to use the phone to make dinner reservations and use the washing machine so I can pack lighter(haha). Also if you've been to Concordia is there any type of small store there like at Maho?
Thanks Sharon
Thanks Sharon
We stayed at Estate Concordia last May and loved it. Had an Oceanfront View and it was well worth it. The view at the partial Ocean View units were very "partial". Peaceful and relaxing place.
Yes, they have a payphone and we used it several times.
Don't remember if they have a washing machine for use by the public. We stayed at EC for 5 days, then moved to a villa for a week, so we just washed clothes at the villa. You could email or call Maho and ask if they have one for guest's use.
There is no small store at EC. In their office they had a few T-shirts, suntan lotion and maybe 4 or 5 other items for sale. Not like the store at Maho. We shopped at Starfish in Cruz Bay, because we went into town several times for various reasons. There is Lily's market and Love City market in Coral Bay which would be closer to EC. They are smaller than Starfish, but I seem to recall they had quite a bit of stuff.
Try to pack as lightly as you can. I ignored this good advice from the forum and we brought lots of stuff (turns out we didn't really need it all). Lugging stuff up and down all the stairs at EC is a bit of a chore.
At night, we enjoyed going up to the road where you park and walking a little ways down to the bench overlooking Ram's Head and the tents. You get some great star watching there, and can hear the waves at the beach below.
Since EC does not have beach chairs, we rented chairs from Crabby's in Coral Bay. He had nice chairs for rent for a good price and he was a nice guy to chat with.
Have a great trip.

There are two pay phones - one at the top of the stairs by the road, and the other around the corner from the office. I know this because I had to use the phone (or at least try to use) the first morning while trying to track down our lost luggage. In the end, the girl who works in EC's office placed the calls for me - what an absolute doll she was! - and discovered (thankfully!) that the girl at the baggage claim at STT transposed two digits of US Airway's local phone number - which made it a tad difficult to get ahold of them. So if you happen to see a girl working in the office who has an adorable 1-year old son, please thank her again for me
I don't believe there are washing machines at EC, but their helpful staff could probably direct you to the nearest laudromat if you need to do a load.

Thanks
Thanks so much for the information. We're pretty obsessed with keeping sand and no-see-ums out of our room so we try to wash our beach towels often. We'll just have to hang them out to dry on the balcony instead. Do either of you know how busy the nicer restaurants in Coral Bay like Sweet Plantains will be in late March(it is the midwest spring break)? Do you think we should make reservations like over Christmas? Thanks Sharon
