Peter Bay Villa Map?

Post by sherban »

I started mapping villas in Peter Bay...but this is tough using the standard methods because there has been so much construction in the past couple years the Google Earth photos are outdated. I looked at some alternate satellite photos and most are dated or poor resolution. Anyway, there's a few I am real sure about and some I could use some help pinpointing. The photo below is what I have so far, can anyone help reccomend changes to Identify these villas and or their locations?
Thanks!
Sherb

There are a few that are private homes. Next to the Beach House and up the hill from it are both private as far as I can tell from the map.

Sherb---wow---still plotting villas long after your trip is over---thats great. I think where you show Amoroso is not correct--- that house is not on the rental market---was owned by the Starfish Grocery guy. I know you have correctly shown Gatehouse, Coco de Mer, Villa La Susa, Delfina, Seacove, 2B and Presido del Mar. Not sure on Mermaid Falls. I was thinking that was in Upper Peter Bay (above the road).

Mermaid Falls is in Upper Peter Bay. We toured it in 2004 - great views!

The map is too old to show Amorosa, but it would be off to the right of the section you are showing.

On maps.google.com do a search for Amorosa and a user defined placemark is there.

The one you have marked as Rivendell is actually Mrs. Hall's house--a native St. Johnian and the only one of the Peter Bay heirs who didn't sell to the developers.

Peter Bay Villas

Post by Knolmom »

Funny that you mention Ms Hall!!! I wonder if she is still around.
Rich and I and his adult children stayed at 2B Peter Bay when we had our wedding there in 2000. Our SIL was joining us there the day before the wedding, as he was coming off a bareboat trip with his FD buddies. Their boat pulled up in front of our house at Peter Bay and our SIL said he was going to debark in town by dinghy and join us at the house, now that he knew, albeit from the water, which one it was.
Needless to say he took a cab to the Peter Bay entrance, became lost, and went wandering around down the road, where he ran into a kindly lady who lived in one of the houses at Peter Bay and who invited him in for a drink, so he said. After lunch, dear SIL fell asleep in the chair,( wonder why??) He had given the lady our contact number and she was kind enough to call us and someone went up to get him. She was very cordial to whomever retrieved dear SIL and even helped them get him into the car. The woman was Ms Hall.
I thought her house was pretty close to the Northshore Road but, when I tried to go back to meet with her and thank her for her kindness and patience with our ienbriated( sp?) SIL, I was unable to find the house on my own.

Thanks folks...made some adjustments to the image above and reposted...

Thanks Jim for your inputs...I remember your nice review of Coco De Mer...

Benchill- Didn't find the placemark for Amorosa...just something in Portugal...maybe that's a "sign" I should plan Europe for 2009...

The quest goes on...keep the info coming, thanks.

Hi Sherban,

Here is the trick. Search for Cruz Bay first. Then search for Amorosa and it will give you the placemark.

Peter Bay House

Post by Knolmom »

I believe that Ms Halls house is the one without the pool just off the Northshore Road on the waterside on the one just west of it( to the left) with the pool is Rivendell. Rivendell is on the waterside of the Northshore Road.
I do not know the name of the house just next to 2B Peter Bay but it is ownerd by one of the nastiest men I have ever met. He was constantly harassing folks who stayed at 2B and insisting that the beach in front of his house and all the way down past the Peter Bay Beach House was a private beach for HOMEOWNERS ONLY , not even renters, and that anyone who was not a homeowner had to use the beach at the extreme east end of Peter Bay. I believe a lawsuit reinforced the fact that the beach was public up to the high water mark but I understand that even this did not stop him from harassing folks. I have not heard about him in a few years.
The house next to that on and just to the right of the Beach House is Bahia Mar, a private residence that is or was for sale.

The location of Riverdell is incorrect, it is located on the other side of North Shore Road, the beach side of the development.

Drawing a straight line from the Beach House towards North Shore Road, it is the 2nd house with the hip roof line.

Rivendall is more to the lower left corner of your map.

From the oragne roofed house currently labelled Rivendell, "travel" along North Shore Road towards town. The next house along the road has a small, square, brownish hip roof line and a tiny hit of a pool. This is Rivendell. The house looks so small on the map because part of it is hidden by trees.
