rental agency that accepts credit cards?

Post by patr »

What other management company accepts credit cards besides Destination St John? We usually book thru them for this reason; on occasion we've had good service and some not so good service.

We have also used St John Properties, they do not accept credit cards, but provided excellent service, but do not have alot of inventory.

We have used Carefree Getaways and received great service from Paco and felt they have a nice inventory, but do not take credit cards.

I like the security that booking with a credit card affords and would like more agents to choose from.

I haven't used them, but here is what Viva! Villas says "Method of Payments - Personal Checks, Visa & MasterCard (credit cards are accepted on select villas only-please inquire)"

FYI, when we tried to use Amex to pay our deposit (through Caribbean Villas), they did not want to accept it. We worked it out (they were good about it), but it could have presented a problem had they not been flexible. Overall, we found Amex a poor choice as the only card we brought last year. This year we will have the ATM card and Visa or Discover. A lot of places didn't want to accept Amex for payment.

I used a credit card "Check" with Vacation Vistas with no problems. I still have the protection of a credit card but, met their requirements.

We used ViVa this past year with a credit card and thought they were great to deal with. We rec'd quick responses anytime we emailed them; they emailed the rental agreement and we faxed it back and they used our cc without any problems.

I will look into VIVA, I was not sure about the business where some select villas do credit cards, my luck would be the ones I'm interested in would be a 'no'; we'll see.

Ron, I like your idea about using the credit card check. I am so quick to shred those when they come in the statement; I just never thought to use them in this way. Very clever, thanks for the suggestion! :D

Pat, I am just on the Catered To site and they say the now take credit cards. It doesn't indicate that it is only for certain villas.

Do the Math Re Credit Card Checks

Post by Rick&Leah »

We found that with our cards they charge 3% fee to use the checks. If you're looking for a rebate or flight miles, it may not be worth it. On balance and given their wide choice of villas, we've stuck with Caribbean Villas and just write them personal checks. Rick&Leah
