Toto, I don't think we are in STJ anymore

Post by Xislandgirl »

Just back from a long weekend at Disney with a girlfriend. I have been there half a dozen times so I knew what to expect and I figured a vacation is a vacation, but after an hour of the mayhem, I was seriously longing for Gibney and a dark and diet.
I am not sure why they call it the Magic Kingdom....you can't have a cocktail; not my idea of magic

Guess this is the week to pick the villa and book the airfare. 4 days of the Mouse is enough to last me for another 10 years.

That's why Epcot is the best. You can drink your way around the world, and ride the very cheesy Maelstrom in Norway.

I am totally with you. When could you possibly need alcohol more than when surrounded by 100s of kids!

I took my two out of a feeling of obligation and truly did not enjoy it. I tried, for them, but I really really really am just not a disney gal.

My brother and sister in law have season passes and are always begging me to get down there. But Florida is just somewhere you stop to get more gas on the way to da islands...

I really wish more people felt that way - Lulu - can we get you to be honorary chair of the "Welcome to Florida - Now Go Home" committee?

If getting hit in the face with a blast of 90-degree, super humid air when you walk out of the airport to get your rental car doesn't say "Welcome to Florida. Now go home," I don't know what will.

I hate it because I love my brother and sister in law, but if I never had to set foot in Miami again, with it's perfect, beautiful people (it actually was voted city with the most beautiful people in the U.S.) and its dirty, crowded beaches that everyone raves about and the traffic, I won't really be sad.

My brother likes living on the beach, and who can blame him. But if I had to live stateside on the coast, I'd pick somewhere like North or South Carolina.

Oh, Miami - I thought you said "Florida". Now I understand...

My brother lives in Miami now, but his wife's family lives in Okeechobee. So, I have spent most of my time in those two places. Okeechobee is an interesting little place, and I was surprised how rural Florida can be.

Miami scares me.

I've never been to Disney World, but sometimes I can't even stomach the Disney Channel and I flew into Orlando last time I was there, so I'm guessing I'm not missing much...

After moving here 7 years ago we did the disney thing quite a few times, even had an annual pass. Now, we avoid it like the plague. My parents love the place...even have a disney timeshare that they use twice a year. Their favorite park though is epcot and drinking around the world so at least when we do have to meet them at least its as enjoyable as possible

And yes, Miami/south Fl is a whole other world compared to the state as a whole. They even pushed to be a seperate state recently
