Sunscreen

My dermatologist introduced me to a great sunscreen, it's called Elta MD. You can buy it on-line. They make an SPF 50 Sport version that is one of the most water-proof sunscreens out there. Best - it doesnt burn or irritate your eyes when you sweat. It's fairly expensive, so I would only use this on...

We like Eaglesnest (VIVA Vacations). It's sits up very high and has a great view of Great Cruz. It pretty much fits the bill on all your requirements.

Beaches

We stayed on Hart Bay (second bay over from Chocolate)a couple of years ago during June and the surf and waves were really strong - couple with the previously mentioned rocks, not a good combo. It's a nice beach to take a walk around, but not the best for sitting and relaxing. I've heard the snorkel...

Water Taxi

We've used the private water taxi service before. They are very reliable. It's really convenient and the way to go if you want to get to STJ in a hurry. The convenience comes with a price, expect to pay $120-150. They can easily accommodate 8 people plus luggage.

Passports

We just applied for passports for our kids today and they told us that we would get them in 6 weeks, quicker if we want them expedited. If you're 7 weeks out you should be ok.

Ideas

You'll have a great time. Our kids were 3,5,6 when we took there the first time. Most of the beaches on your list are North Shore so you'll be able to find most of them very easily. When our kids were toddlers, they liked Cinnamon, Maho and Trunk the best because they have the biggest beaches. Salt ...

Duty Free Carryons

If the duty free you buy in STT contains liquids that are in more than 3 oz containers, you'll need to check them. :(

Spirit

There aren't any other direct flights from Ft Lauderdale to STT. American does fly into San Juan but I doubt that they would honor a Spirit ticket.

Carry-Ons

I travel a bunch, and TSA will treat any deodorant, aerosol can etc as an item subject to the 3-1-1 limitations. But hey, you can always buy extra stuff once you get there.

Rental Advice

If all else fails, you can try Lavender Hill Suites http://www.lavenderhillsuites.com/. We've stayed there before, and while not the same as a nice villa, they do offer a swimming pool and a great location right in Cruz Bay.

North Shore Villas

We're spending the week July 4, 2008 on St. John and one of our group is renting Peace and Plenty. It sounds like it meets all of your requirements and is a very nice place from what I've been told. Pool temps should be in the mid-80's in June. Peace and Plenty is represented by Caribbean Villas, Su...

Restaurant $$

I'd plan on $50-70 / person at Asolare, Stone Terrace etc. exclding alcohol. This should get you appetizer, main course and desert. If you splurge on lobster, may drive this up.
