What about a few of the Sunset Ridge villas that CimmaronStJohn rents? They appear to be quite affordable. http://www.cimmaronstjohn.com

While your rental house only has sand chairs, the on island rental agent may have some available for just such a case. Check with her/him.

Amalie on St. Thomas has 4 door jeeps for $615. You would have quite a savings picking up the car on St. Thomas and only having to pay the car barge fee each way rather than the van to the ferry plus ferry price/person and per piece of baggage. Amalie is a pleasure to work with.

Our home, Ilios, might meet your specs: 3 bedrooms, Chocolate Hole area, very well maintained and comfortable, under $3500 for 6 since it will be low season, and green (we have solar panels). Our rental agent is Caribbean Villas and Ilios is managed by Cimmaron which provides excellent service. http...

I have found Macy's to be very reliable. Generally my order arrives within a week. If the order is over $100, it ships for free. I have also discovered that Macy's tends to run sales at the weekend, so it's worth waiting and placing an order then.

Re: a question about doors for villa owners and renters
As a neighbor of both Coconuts and Plumeria, I agree with Kevin's discussion about windows/doors in the Gifft Hill area. We also have a house near Hart Bay where the prevailing wind caused major problems. The problems were the fixed window panes in the 4 French doors facing east and no a/c in the gr...

The salmon fillets at Starfish are quite good--saute 1 minute on each side in a little olive oil, then 7 minutes in the oven at 375, squirt of lemon, a baked potato, and a salad of Josephine's mixed greens makes an excellent at home dinner, topped off with a great sunset view.

If you like the Gifft Hill villas Cloud 9, Coconuts and Plumeria, also consider Palm Villa with a great view, www.caribbeanvilla.com/property/palm-villa/. The layout is similar to Cloud 9 with the addition of a master bedroom suite. Palm Villa is to the left of Cloud 9 and shares a driveway with Clo...

Re: The road down past the Denis Bay monstrosity
In my stateside town new construction is not assessed until the building is completed. That may also be the case in the VI, which would explain the difference between Coconuts' assessment and this house's assessment. Perhaps Pia could weigh in on this.

I just re-read the info. Since the Texaco station is no longer in Cruz Bay, substitute from the roundabout head toward the Westin and then continue on following the directions.
