October vs April?
Hello everyone It's been so long since I've been on this forum but am happy to be back and researching/planning our next trip. Basically we're trying to pick which time of year to visit October or April? Our two previous trips (just me and my husband) were late April and mid May. Our first trip in A...

Re: Pic's Pics & Report 2013 - Vol. 1
Loved your trip report and all of your pictures, looking forward to the next installment. You are so lucky to have seen the octopus and eels. My husband caught a glimpse of the octopus but he stayed under a rock and I didn't get to see him. Sorry your trip started out with you being so ill, glad to ...

Re: Trip report and pictures May4-11
Thanks everyone,
Gibney was beautiful. The palm trees and the way the sun light up the beach and water were really wonderful. Also the view of Hawksnest is really nice. Hope you guys enjoy it on your trip. It was also fun to hike up to Peace hill and see it from above.

I'm so jealous, our trip went by so fast. One of my favorite things was sunrise. Curious what villa this was taken from?

Re: Villas with on-site caretakers
I second Villa Adeste in Coral bay. My husband and I stayed there April of 2012 and had a wonderful stay. We paid $2100/week for the 2 of us but house can sleep 6. Charlie and his wife Chris were great host, they live in apartment below pool deck of house. Charlie greeted us and showed us the house ...

Can't miss Pickles, when you turn at the Coral bay sign its before you get to Cocolobo shops on right side of road. I wanted to try sandwiches after so many good review but sadly as a pregnant lady not recommended to eat deli meat and of course that's all I'm craving is a big sandwich.

Re: Best sunrise spot?
I love watching the sunrise, one of my favorite parts of the day on St.John. We've stayed in Coral bay twice and love the views of sunrise. In April/May you have to be up by 5:30ish to see it all but its so worth it, you almost feel like you're the only one up on the island aside from the roosters a...

Re: Best restaurants & a take-out deli in Coral Bay?
We just got back from a week in Coral bay. Shipwreck landing is okay, we did dinner there last year and then lunch this year. I would say better for lunch than dinner, great location overlooking water. Our favorite Coral bay eatery is Miss Lucy's. Brunch, lunch, and dinner all amazing!!! Bunch was m...

Re: Donkey Diner closed?
This is all very interesting. We were there last week. Last year we really enjoyed pizza so were all ready for it Wed night. We tried calling and line was disconnected. We went over and ordered pizza. The vibe of the place was completely different from last year and super slow service but pizza was ...

Trade winds
When do the trade winds die down? First morning on island and no breeze. Wondering if this is common for May?
Thanks

Mrs.Lucy's is also great for dinner, we're also thinking of trying it for lunch this year as well. Last year we went on our last night, Friday night, and they also had a guy playing guitar. Can't remember what we had but it was delicious. Also great rum punch.
