Re: Skyflower or Monkey No Climb??
Hi Sheila, I have been to both Monkey No Climb and Skyflower and I must say they are both great places to stay. Both of the owners are great to work with and the houses are at the same elevation near the very top of the mountain and in the same neighborhood. I prefer Monkey No Climb but that is beca...

Re: Save Coral Bay Fund Raiser
Just a reminder that the Coral Bay Community Council is a 501c3 charitable organization and it is very easy to contribute to the legal effort. All you need is a major credit card and the http://www.gofundme.com/coralbay site takes less than five minutes to complete. You will then receive a email con...

Re: Caneel Hill hike
Depending how fast you like to hike it is about 25 minutes to walk to the platform from the parking lot at the North Shore Road. The platform view is very nice and there is usually a breeze to cool you off. My wife and I try to minimize our trips to Cruz Bay but we always make time for this hike.

Re: Bordeaux Mt. Rd.
Bordeaux Mountain Road (Route #108) is nothing to be afraid of anymore. It is 95% paved and while you have to be sober to drive it I love doing it each time we are there. Once you go over the top and start down towards Coral Bay your view opens up towards the East all the way to Virgin Gorda. Easily...

Re: does a hot tub make a difference in villa choice?
Lots of different opinions regarding a spa. We like the spa especially "in season" when it can be a tad nippy on Bordeaux Mountain at night, especially if there is a breeze. We also like it after long hikes and snorkeling. While I can not speak for all St John houses, our spa is cleaned af...

Re: 8:00 pm Arrival - Where to Stay the 1st Night
Look at staying at The Mafolie Hotel which is about a 15 minute ride from the airport HIGH on the mountain overlooking the harbor. Quite a contrast to the Grande Bay elevation. Stunning view of the harbor, sea planes, St Croix, PR and the airport. Very good restaurant, free breakfast, free morning r...

Re: Skyflower 2013 Trip Report - Part 6 (over and out)
Nice reports Dreamshark.
The owner's of Skyflower are a very nice couple and they have a great property.
I have always thought of our neighborhood as a quiet gem that many do not know about.

Re: Milk moon cottage
Go ahead and do it Nancy. It is just past Sloop Jones. My wife and I always drive out to Privateer Bay and park at the bottom of Milk Moon's driveway and stare off towards Flanagan's Island, The Indians and the BVI chain. VERY QUIET as the only thing you can usually hear is the wind. Very sunny also...

You can look at our website at Monkey No Climb.com as we have those dates open. Lots of nice houses to choose from overlooking Coral Bay.

Re: One Particular Harbor - paved road?
You can now get to Coral Bay without going all the way on Centerline road. Going from Cruz Bay you follow Centerline past the Reef Bay trailhead. You will come around a hard left bend and make a right turn on a paved road (Bordeaux Mt. Road) that goes between Tutu Silversmiths and some mailboxes. Th...

Re: One Particular Harbor - paved road?
You can also get there on Bordeaux Mt. Road from Cruz Bay if you choose. 90% of it is paved with a two minute un-paved area that is pretty easy in a 2WD jeep.

Re: other villas near One Particular Harbor?
Skyflower (our neighbor) and Monkey No Climb (shameless self-promotion) are higher up the mountain. Both have spas but no pools. There are others near OPH but I can't remember the names.

It is up to you if you want to tip the greeter or the cleaning staff. It is a nice thing to do but it is not expected that you do so however. Each house has its own payment system worked out.

Re: Alternative to the Snorkel Vest?
My wife and I use the yellow belts every time we snorkel. They are great when you want to take a break and just bob in the water, need to clear your mask or you get a leg/foot cramp. They are light weight and very easy to use. It also gives you a lot of peace of mind.

Take them. Make sure they have their medications, find the pharmacy/phone number on the second level at the Marketplace in Cruz Bay and where the Emergency Care Health Center is at Route 10 (Centerline Rd.) and Route 104 (Gift Hill Rd.). Find a villa with one level and no steps. There are so many go...
