I cannot remember what it was listed under, but I recall a post where folks listed villa meal suggestions or favorites. Something along those lines. So, rather than a definitive tropical theme per se, maybe a cookbook of simple, healthy meals for dinner at your villa ... after snorkeling, sunning, c...

had to chime in on this one since I often referred to several of Gromit's packing suggestion posts as I approached the state of packing panic. We recently returned from a first time visit (yup - need to work on that trip report) so I can vouch for several of the recommendations: 1. Keens are a lifes...

I am a relative rookie on the forum but think my qualifications might allow me a pass to join the gathering:
a) I just returned from a first time trip to St John
b) I grew up in the King Of Prussia Area.

it might have been. I finally made it to St John SPice on our last day ... Friday afternoon. But maybe not cause it seemed like whoever was asking might have ahd a few mroe days to stay? It was Friday afternoon! And we were staying until the following Tuesday! Were you wearing a white hat or visor?...

Pine Peace has best prices for beer. We just returned from a first-timer trip to St John. I never made it into Starfish  but stopped in Pine Peace several times. We were in St. John Spice last week talking to Ruth about options for picking up a few things we needed, and someone in the store ...

Pine Peace definitely sketchy for parking - especially with my Paris rental for the week of a not-so-good-turning-radius short-bed truck a.k.a. "shaggy van" a.k.a. "concussion cab" more on that when I do a trip report. I really didn't even look much at groceries or produce at Pin...

We just returned from a first-timer trip to St John. I never made it into Starfish  but stopped in Pine Peace several times. We found it to have best prices for beer compared to St John's Market(even with a 15% Westin coupon for STJ's market)

Gromit The Girl with the Dragon Tatoo definitely picks up. I read it last summer and remember struggling a bit through the beginning. By the end, I was sad to leave the main characters. I read his second book because I "missed" being "with" the main characters. I am now on the th...

24 hours till take off - map recommendation

Need recommendation for best map to navigate the roads and trails. The books (Off the Beaten Path, Feet, Fins, Four Wheel drive) have a few overall island maps and close ups of those topographical type maps. I need the real thing. Does anyone have a favorite?? I may stop in our local AAA office to s...

My ride for the week ... Connolly cabbie

At the time - in conversation with the woman at Paris Car Rental - it seemed like a great idea. These wheels can accomodate a decent handful of sandy, sweaty young adults while I drive in comfort. Plus, at a fearless 50 years old, I am up to the challenge. Well .... We leave on Saturday. Those steep...

rash guard - short sleeve or long???

many thanks for those who replied to my packing panic post. as always, responses were incredibly helpful

This might be a stupid question since it is the hottest part of the year to snorkel but I'll ask anyway. Short or long sleeve?

Also, how is Land's End sizing?

The countdown begins .... packing panic ensues

Not quite sure why I feel any form of stress or tension. St John will be right up my family's alley- low key, casual and friendly. Plus, you all make it sound so simple. Many of you even manage with carry-on only. Plus, this large family group of mine are staying in the Westin Villas so we have wash...

Appreciate the replies. Exactly what I needed to hear about a trip to Jost, navigating it oneself. Sounds to me like this is NOT the way to go.

thanks!

powerboat rental (no captain) for day trip to Jost

This is related to my other post about day sail to Jost. We are committed to the large mono-hull for the majority of the group and are looking at options for the overflow. What about renting a small powerboat for the day? Has anyone ever done this ... rented a smaller power boat and done the trip to...
