Hey Sunny, Never stayed in a villa but it's hard to be too far from anything since the island is so small. That being said it can take 30 minutes or so to get to Cruz Bay if you're in Coral Bay because of the winding roads, goats/donkeys in the road, etc. If you pick something near the center you wo...

Tim, Here's a great place to start...just choose the beach under the turtle. That site also has hiking trails, places of interest, etc. No real need to get a book if you check out that website (I'm pretty sure much of it is from a book that I own anyway...can't remember which one). http://www.seestj...

No boats really necessary...I don't know if you've been before but many of the beaches have great snorkeling in shallow water. Trunk is an obvious choice to get acquainted with snorkeling but it can get busy. Francis Bay might be a good place to start (along the right side) or Maho Bay.

Love the pictures! Went to Salt Pond in 2006 but wasn't too impressed with the snorkeling (except for seeing a nurse shark). I saw rocks WAY out in the center but that was a little daunting...are these the rocks folks mention when they talk about the snorkeling here? I snorkeled the left and right s...

Great option if you're strictly snorkeling and not diving (as it can only go 30 feet deep (though probably will go deeper if you try)). Canon D10...works above or below water well...shoots movies. http://www.usa.canon.com/app/images/PowerShot_2009/PS_D10/profile/d10_586x225.jpg If you're concerned a...

Bry -- I've seen them at Waterlemon, Salt Pond, Hawksnest, Cinnamon, and Francis (see pic below). The center of Francis has a bunch of grass on the seabed that the turtles like to eat. My friend and I snorkeled the right side of Francis (good snorkeling) and then made a point of going back through t...

Bry, I've been to CB Watersports but I can't remember exactly where it is...I think it's up near Ronnie's Pizza? When you get there just ask and someone will point you in the right direction...the town is very small. Scuba is definitely NOT a must. That's the beauty of St. John...great snorkeling fr...

Wow, thanks so much for the help everybody! A lot to think about! Nothing is too convenient but I wouldn't have it any other way. I'd rather it be this way than have more traffic on St. John.

Taxi FROM Coral Bay?

Hi All, Can't seem to find much information about this on the 'net. Are there any taxi companies that are based in Coral Bay (doubtful). Alternately, are there taxi companies that will drive there and only charge for the ride from that point (not for their trip from Cruz Bay to Coral Bay)? We want t...
