Thanks everyone for the well wishes. I just re-read my trip report and, wow, I must have been tired and in a hurry. I am a lousy typist....I actualy did a solo trip last year and did more snorkeling and had to either walk or hitch-hike since last year I didn't have a rental car. This time I had a je...

another may trip report- engaged at Ram Head

here is yet another trip report and a thank you to those who offered info for our trip this past May. We arrived late night on 5/13 and met a guy working for/with National Geographic documenting virus/bacteria that might be found in the dust that blows in from Africa. We were told that the dust is m...

Hi everyone. Does anyone have an update on the situation? We have not heard anything in a long time and I'm hoping that that's good news. We leave in 2 days !!!!!!

Edit: oops, didn't see the other thread just below. Looks like stormwater runoff is a concern, as well. :(

thanks for posting these pics. The algae is visable, I think, from your pics. It would be very interesting to see if things are getting either better or worse with time. The Blue Cobblestone pics shows the water much murkier than what I saw last years. I'm a bit worried about my upcoming trip :(

Hi everyone, I don't know anyone from this forum (yet?) but I will be down there with my soon-to-be fiancee in mid-May. She's never been there and this will be my 4th trip to the Virgin Islands. We will be on the other side of the island, but who knows, maybe she'll wanna take a drive? I figure St J...

There is a fair amount of info: - map - pics showing reefs - directions, etc. on www.ditleffpoint.com I had read that there was a subdivision in the works and that access via the road was going to be closed. However, I also read that there was foot access by walking along the shoreline from Klein ba...

Thanks again..

Off-shore snorkeling via sea kayak ??

Has anyone snorkeled Eagle Shoals or Johnson's Reef? I was curious if these sites were reasonable to attempt via sea kayak? In May of Last year; I did Yawzi, Saltpond, Waterlemon, Mary Point, Peter Bay to Trunk Cay, Brown Bay, & Leinster Point from shore (and kayaked to Whistiling Cay and snorke...

To the Original Poster, I would recomend salt Pond or Brown Bay. I apologize if this is somewhat off-topic, but has anyone snorkeled Eagle Shoals or Johnson's Reef? I was curious if these sites were reasonable to attempt via sea kayak? In May of Last year; I did Yawzi, Saltpond, Waterlemon, Mary Poi...
