Just stayed at the Marriott Courtyard, Ft Lauderdale Beach last week, nice hotel, great AAA rate ($99) easy ride from FLL, across from the beach and walking distance to many good restaurants and bars.

ULine sells great insulated boxes in different sizes. Just layer your food with techni ice, tape them up and you are all set (as long as you are checking). Also, be sure to write "no dry ice" on the boxes and most of the time TSA will not open them. our food stayed frozen this way for over...

We shipped ahead out of necessity, as we checked 5 large boxes of frozen food on the way down (for someone else). It cost an average of $ 150 for two large boxes each way, Priority Mail, Insured with delivery confirmation from Chicago. Checking the first four boxes on American was free due to my Pla...

We were there earlier this month. They take credit. They made us wait in the bar 20 minutes for our table which was unoccupied the entire time. Otherwise the food was good but the wine prices were outrageous. $79 for a La Crema Pinot Noir that you can buy at Costco for less than $10! That's just pri...

Most will tell you to rent a jeep. We went with a front wheel drive car last visit and had no problems. BUT, we did not encounter any heavy rain and did not go on any unpaved roads. So, I guess it depends on how much you want to explore. I think some of the switchbacks may have been difficult in the...

Hubby ate there and said it was - eh OK and there have been a few others I have spoken to as well and all had the same thoughts. Pia I agree, just eh OK... My least favorite meal of all on the island. Not much flavor, two kinds of rice and neither was very good. Margaritas were just okay. I think t...

So... did you make it? We got on the 6 p.m. barge and it was fairly empty. They said they were going to make one more run at 6:30. Hope you were successful! Yes we made the 6:30 barge without a problem even after waiting over 40 minutes for our boxes (they sent them to the cargo area instead of wit...

Thanks all! Sounds like we'll need a little luck on our side. At least we have a back up.

At least our luggage is there, 6 days shipping with the USPS, not too shabby for this time of year.

Car Barge Update, please...

Thanks everyone for all the info provided over the past few years, looking forward to our 2nd trip to St John. My wife is starting to panic over the car barge situation as we have some important cargo we need to get to St John before it thaws. Here's the particulars: American flight arriving at 4:40...

Oh boy, I'm in the same boat. 4:40 arrival (originally 3:30 until AA changed our flight) renting from Budget. We have some precious cargo that we need to get safely to St. John otherwise we probably would have rented on St John. Any updates on the car barge service??? Shipped our luggage today, USPS...
