Show Your Pet!

Post by California Girl »

There's been so much talk on the forum recently about new pets, old pets, passed-away pets, etc. that I thought it MUST be time for everyone to post a new picture of their pet!

Here are our two new boys! You'd never guess that they are BROTHERS by their looks! Jack is the orange & white one and Toby is the Norwegian Forest Cat (the long haired one). They don't come any sweeter than these two guys who spent the better part of their first year of life in a cage at Petco! We were so happy to adopt them and give them the home and love they deserve!

CG - they are so very cute. The Norweigian Forest cat, are very much alike the Maine Coons. I also notice that they often have their front legs/paws totally stretched out. So does my Maine Coons.

Here is Alice:

All right! Great idea CG!

This is Zoie. She has liver problems and is underweight.

This is Bella. She is too fat and we're having a hard time getting her to eat less and getting Zoie to eat more. Her name is Bella because my wife rescued her from our neighbor's window "wella". She was starving and thinks she still is.

This is Savannah, aka Miss Priss. She is 16 now but is the healthiest of the three. Very shy with everyone else but us. A real sweetie.

This is Peaches. An Aussie/Collie mix and a real live wire.

My husband and I have 5 cat children :)

Milton emerged from the woods at my parents' house when I was in college and he's been my sweet boy ever since. He is about 10 years old and incredibly loving and freakishly intelligent. He never ceases to amaze me with his love and devotion:
Image

Greenlee we adopted from a shelter about 4.5 years ago; she'll be 6 in the fall (this picture refuses to resize). Every time I say her name she immediately flops onto her back...she'll stare at me and meow waiting for me to say her name so she has an excuse to flip over:
Image

Jasper is our youngest; he turned 3 in February. I volunteer at an animal shelter and I fell in love with him when I was cleaning cages one night about 3 years ago. He is super athletic and eats more than any of the other cats but runs around so much that he stays skinny. We always have him perform tricks for guests because he is so funny and talented:
Image

Spencer will be 4 on the 4th of July and is from the same litter as Roscoe (below); their mom was killed and I got them from an animal rescue when they were kittens. Spencer is a trouble maker but he also turns into a floppy teddy bear when he’s under the covers:
Image

Roscoe has black in the places his brother has orange and they have white in all the same places. Roscoe loves it when we have people over; he is sure they are there to see him:
Image

And this is Rerun. I lost her two years ago. This picture was taken a few weeks before she died at 14 years of age. With some very careful planning and a few years work she managed to go from being an outside cat to being an inside cat in a house of 4 people allergic to cats (my parents, my sister, and myself):
Image

And this is Jenks. I rescued him last August when he ran out in the road near my parents' house. I got out of the car and went to see him and when he flopped down on my feet and I knew I had to save him. My parents ended up keeping him. If there hadn’t been clever maneuvering on Rerun’s part Jenks never would have been invited into my parents’ house; she preceeded him and paved the way. Jenks favorite activity is playing "tag":

This is Buca (Sambuca Kalua) and Tiki (Tiki Kana). They'reImage my boys and they're so much fun. They love each other, but boy can they wrestle.

Buca can give his paw and do a high 5. Tiki is still learning to give his paw.

I'll play. Lots of cats on here, where are the dogs? Here's a few more cats:

This is Miss Clio. She's 8. She's my baby girl and is laying next to me, flicking me with her tail, as I type:
Image

This is Toots. She is not very photogenic. She is almost 6.

And this is Sir Floofy Pants, Mr. Oliver Tang Tang. It's a big name for a big boy. He's 9 months old and is more of an outside cat. He's one of the best-looking tabbies I've ever seen, but has a wild streak and a very fluffy tail (which is not visible in this photo).

Here's Ollie as a kitten. Please ignore my mom's yellow fingernails. She and I need to talk about that. Focus on the cute kitten:

Oh my gosh your Toots looks like a chubbier version of my Greenlee :)

I'll try to find a close up picture of her since the picture I posted is so tiny. And Toots is the same age as Greenlee...was Toots also rescued by an old lady named Margie from an animal control patrol through a trailer park?

As far as we cat people go, cats are like potato chips, you can't have just one!

This is great! I'm also wondering where the dogs are :?

I love Butter the Wonder Dog, and Sir Floofy Pants, and Toots, with her pink toenails :!:,and BIG Buca, and ALL your babies Teresa Rae - Roscoe has the sweetest face! Maggy, don't Maine Coons have the very best disposition!?!! Norwegians are closely related and we just love their mellow ways. Our two boys can wrestle with the best! Connie, we should set up a match! LOL! And Bella! What a little chub! I weighed Toby this morning and he's 13 lbs! I see a four-letter word in our future...DIET!

Teresa, Ms. Toots IS a bit on the chubby side. My husband calls her "Wilford Brimley" because she always looks slightly displeased, has a distinctly unhappy meow, and is a little portly. Poor girl, we have her on a diet, but exercise just isn't her thing.

I don't know where she came from, but we got her from the Atlanta Humane Society as a wee kitten in July 2002.

Your babies are cute too - but 5? I couldn't imagine. Keeping up with three is a lot. I wanted two cats and a dog, but them Ollie came along and here we are today.

Oh, and about the pink nails. If you don't know about them, they're called soft paws, and they have saved our sofa.

I have always wondered about those Soft Paw things. Kind of like Lee Press-on Nails for cats. I've just assumed they'd never work. How do you get your cat to sit still enough to apply them? None of our cats are declawed so we do a lot of nail trimming in our house...90 fingers and toes among the 5 of them.

We went from one cat to two cats then up to four when adopted Roscoe and Spencer and we thought we were done and then I fell in love with #5 Jasper. It really doesn't seem like a lot to me. We have a decent sized house for two people and no human children yet so they have plenty of room to spread out and ignore each other if they want.

CG, Roscoe does have the sweetest face...I always tell him that he is the cutest cat I've ever seen (Milton is the most handsome :D ).

Here's Roscoe as a kitten:
